I would say it will eleviate some stress, but if they are shot already probably not.

New hinges, they are like $80 or less at the dealer if I recall.

ivfe had this same problem... first it was just the driver side and then one day i lifted the hood and it bent my entire passenger side.. went to close it and the whole hood is out of wack!!!! well what i did to solve this problem? take a really long flat head screw driver and a hammer.. make sure u wrap the screw driver shaft with a rag and hit the hinge to push it back in place!!! problem solve... i love my car but the more i drive it the more i HATE it.. you would think after paying 40g and more they would have built it better!!! my first and my last.. i will roll this car till the wheels fall off!

 

My hood is so messed up I have washers in the latch assembly so it will stay closed. I feel better knowing I'm not alone. I've been fighting with it since december last year.

 

I've had this problem recently as well...just the passenger side...I ignored it till I saw this post. I'll look at my hinges closer this evening.
