paint my rims...

Just got an 04' coupe and I really want to paint the stock 18 inch rims... I dont really want to go for the flat black look but rather a shiny metallic look... I think im competent to do it myself but I have no idea where to get the paint ide like... how much do you think it would cost me to just get it done at a body shop? could you point me in the right direction? thanks

Try to research on some metallic paint. I previously use a real metal paint from Metakolors but not on rims. Then clear coat after for a glossy finish. Make sure you check with them the correct application.

I used the Duplicolor on mine and it came out really good with the right prep. Otherwise I might consider powdercoating.

Dont use *&^%$# spraypaint... so ghetto and cheap. I despise people who spraypaint anything on their car. DO IT *&^%$# RIGHT!!!

If youre gonna do it have them sprayed with automotive bc/cc or powdercoated... better yet.... search the classifieds for some aftermarket ones for a good deal

Thats highly debatable. You cant tell me that everyone using plastic dip on their grills or other canned spray doesnt look good. How is that ghetto in the least bit?

People paint their door trim with rattle cans. They paint interior pieces with it.

Its not the can its how you prep.

So youre telling me a spray bomb vs a 2 or 3 stage automotive paint are gonna be the same as long as you prep it correctly? Come on. Theres a reason cars arent painted from the factory using spraypaint.... IT SUCKS A single stage paint out of a HVLP is 1000x better than crap in a can. There's no catalyst in a spray can and it can never achieve the durability of automotive paint. Spraypainted interiors, wheels, anything = *&^%$#@ weaksauce!

Might as well buy all your mods from Walmart, along with your Duplicolor spraypaint for your cool wheels....
