My SilverStars low beam burned out in less than 2 months

A couple of months ago I replaced all my headlights, lowbeam, fog and highs with
the Sylvania Silverstars. I have the non-hid 2003 halogen Sedan. Well....just noticed
that the passenger side low beam is not lit. Anyone know if these POS have such a
short life span?

I've heard others complain that Silverstars only last a few months. My Piaas have been running for nearly a year now.

I had the USDM Silverstars (the blue tinted ones) on my previous car for about half a year with no problems. I've had the European Silverstars (clear bulbs) on my G for 3 months now, no problems either.

In general, the aftermarket bulbs like MTEC, APC, Vision, Nokya, etc burn out faster due to cheap manufacturing.

I had the Silverstars for almost a year before they burned out, but that was like 2 years ago. Maybe they are using inferior material now. Try a different brand when you replace them.

Silverstars do not have a long life expectancy. Having a bulb for a year or for one day does not determine the measurement of usage for any bulb. This is why bulbs vary person to person. I could have a bulb last me 20 years if I hardly turn it on, while another person's bulb may last 1 week if used frequently.

What counts is how much do you drive at night and do you frequently turn them off and on (short trips)?

If you are a night time driver, expect bulbs to lose a lot of life. If you turn them off and on frequently due to short trips or erratic behavior, expect them to die even quicker. In the long run, it's a better idea just to go with OEM HID (Xenon discharge). Last a whole lot longer, brighter (better visibility) and don't have the cons of a halogen bulb.

Thumbs up

Okay, heres what Ive learned. The Silverstars are having some problems, and there not lasting like they should. The difference between them and the Truviews is that the Silverstars are dipped in the film that covers them, where as the Trus have the coating actully designed into the glass, no coating to contain the excess heat. The TVs also have a cleared less glare inducing light. Other than that they are susposed to be the same. I dont have the color temp #s they didnt have that, but I do know that the TVs have 157CP/60W High & 86CP/55W Low, and draw 12.0 Volts.[URL=http://www.federal-mogul.com/cda/channel/index/0,2186,2442_7121,00.html]
Hope This helps. Any store that sells Wagner should have them, NAPAs PT# is BP9003TV. Peace

Talking

Is there a way just for you to have the HID assembly lights? That will once and for all end your quest...
