For the last time--regarding the 05 AT SHIFT ****/BOOT :D

Hi guys,

I made a post a while back was kind of fresh in the midst of the 05 G35 release....

Hopefully by now somebody has done this... anybody w/ an 03-04 5AT try to swap in the 05 AT SHIFT BOOT/**** combo? Is it possible?

Thanks!

I don't know much about the 05 AT Shift **** and Boot, but I can refer you to a DIY for installing a shift boot on AT G35's. Its on the my350z forum, so you may need to go ahead and register if you haven't done already:

Hehe, thanks guys, but are we talking about a SHIFT boot conversion or the 2005 5AT G35C's shift boot?

I'm seeing if it's possible to have the STOCK 2005 G35C 5AT boot... which also has the P-R-N-D indicators

I did my own by cutting a ring of thin mdf... I used a Momo shift boot and stretched it over the ring... I'm pretty happy with the results... Didn't much care for the auto shift gate...

it's available at your infiniti parts department.
the cost should be around 50bucks.....
usually the dealer don't have it in stock so you probably have to order it

Okay, maybe this is a stupid question, but do you just snap the OEM aluminum (I think it's aluminum) cover off-the one that 'guides' the shifter? Or is there a trick in snapping it off?

Risingsun124, how did you do that install? Did you buy a special piece to accomodate the boot? or did you just stretch a boot over the OEM aluminum piece with no ring?

Thanks!

I thought I broke my shift **** at one point and called the dealership for replacement.

They quoted me $180 for the just the shift ****...I have 05 5AT.

I later found out I just didnt put it back together right!!! I took the whole shifter apart to install an amplifier EQ in the ashtray...

Actually, I stretched a Momo Boot over a ring I cut from some mdf (Med. Density Fiberboard)... I removed the OEM shift gate and also the plastic slider piece... I really don't miss the gear indicators at all... I guess I've always looked at the read out on the guage cluster...

Speedeezx,

Yeah, no button on there... I mounted it so it's pressing the actuator all th time... Never had a problem with not having a lock-out before, so I'm not anticipating any this time around either... The feel is great and it works awesome... I can't stop using my MM mode now...
