'03 & '04: want real brushed aluminum interior?

Hey guys,

Anyone checked out these dash kits for our cars? That site has all sort of veneer (overlays, I presume) finishes - including one labelled "real brushed aluminum". They charge a premium for that one, but it is still under $150 for the basic kit (see pic).

I am curious if anyone has tried it?

(BTW, they have a separate category for 2004 & UP, but I think they meant 2005 and up as the 2003-2004 layout is the same, correct? I have 2004 so I need to clarify)

I've seen these kits as well, and I've always been curious how they turn out.

In for pics!

'03 and '04 6MT are not the same. The early '03 utilized the 350Z console. IMO, it looked awful, and had no arm rest. That meant the trim piece around the shifter was different. The "Z" has an ashtray in the console, and the "G" now has the ashtray in the upper part of the trim piece. A few of us bought the '03.5 console and retrofitted it. I kept my trim piece, and therefore have no front ashtray. I have a cubby that is top hinged in that spot.

...those stick on kits are usually crap, this seems to be one of those too, I've never personally had it, but I've seen it... its basically a thick sticker where the finish is on the bottom cover by a thick clear layer... but it looks like a sticker and cannot be mistaken for not being a sticker... save your money man. Maybe if you are dying for a brushed aluminum finish, you could go to a chrome/metal plating shop and they'd probably charge you about 300+ to give you a real brushed aluminum finish. Price really dependant on the shop though, I can't remember the link but after googling before, there's alot of places where you could just send away the parts and they'd get them back to you in a week.

I agree, I had a "high end" real carbon kit in my Titan. After installing it I had a SICK feeling in my stomach. It was cheesy looking and I couldn't bare to take it off after spending 450 bucks. Do yourself a favor and deal with the plastic stuff that we have. In the long run it still looks much better than the "you can tell its not OEM and it and it really doesn't look good feeling" I got with my truck. Something custom is probably more expensive but if your dead set on doing it check into that instead of the pre fab crap. Just my opinion. Hope it helps.

If they did look good, then why dont they have actual pictures of the parts instead of images?

These kits have been around for the G for a couple of years. I just don't think the stick on kit would look good at all.
