Momo AT shift knock-off???

I could hardly believe it myself. I won a bid on an automatic shift **** on Ebay last week. The guy had it listed as a MaxSpeed auto-**** for Honda Civic or something but the picture showed that chrome Momo Auto Shift **** that everyone has that costs like $100. Well, I asked them if the auction was for the one in the picture and they replied "yes" so I bid. I really expected to get a totally crappy different **** than the one in the pic but WOW! IT LOOKS EXACTLY THE SAME AS THE ONE FROM MOMO!!! (Except for the Momo logo)

It feels very substantial, and I had previously read the install tips for the Momo one on another thread here (and they were right-on, right down to the tape the you should add to level the ****) and installed it. It looks and feels great! And I paid $29.99 including shipping!!!

Can't MaxSpeed be sued for copying Momo's design (or was it vice-versa)? I would have posted some pics but it's pointless since it looks exactly the same. Unbelievable!

I guess stealing designs is just a part of the auto parts industry.

Heh heh, your post was the thread I mentioned in my post about reading another thread here for the install. I'll take pics tonight, it seems like the only thing that's different is the "Momo" on the bottom chrome and the "Momo" logo on the button - it's just blank there.

HA HA HA HA HA!!! I guess so! I'll try to fit "Skyline" on the button with a Sharpie pen when I get home...

Check out the Ebay page and you guys tell me if it's ridiculous that they can get away with this:

It looks painted in the picture but it's "Heavy Cast Aluminum" as it states on the package - and it feels like it too. The only stupid thing is that the guy shipped it to me from Florida and I'm in San Francisco - I looked at the MaxSpeed package and they're in Hayward, CA... I could drive and be there in 1/2 hour...

Yeah, it's really weird. Before I bid, I tried looking up the model number (it's on the auction page) and they didn't have it on that site. I think they don't want Momo coming after them
