bodykit update on my ings fg replica

bodykit update on my ings fg replica

my car has been sitting at the shop since last tuesday, spose to be done last friday, they needed more time and told me it should be ready monday. Monday came they told me it wasn't ready yet, and should be ready Tuesday. Tuesday came, they told me they are in the process of putting the car back together but ran out of the urethane that they need to glue/mold the kit back onto my car so its secure and won't fall off. Not sure what they mean by this? I guess regular bolts ain't enough? Everyone on here says FG is so much easier to work with and make fit, don't know why my bodyshop is making things so complicated, I guess it's a lot of work for them since its a replica, they said they had to reprimer or resand the kit because it had lots of small pinholes, and fix gap problems... not sure if i will be able to remove the kit if i decide to put on my factory pieces back on later. Do you guys think this is a good thing or not. Seems like it's gonna be permanently on there the way that they're describing it to me?

Yeah, I just loaded on my bodykit into my brother's truck to take to the shop tomorrow. As I was doing it, I found one little air pocket on the underside of the rear ings lip. I did another quick "look over" and didnt see any others. They're going to have to sand mine down too, to make sure theres no other air pockets.

As far as them needing urethane to mold/glue your kit... I have no idea what thats all about. Ask them exactly what they're doing, and whether or not it can be removed later.

I wouldn’t rush the if you want the job done right, my kit fit pretty much good but their were still some fitment issues that needed to be fixed to make it a perfect fit mainly on the side skirts their were some gaps where they meet the body which took a whole day to line up perfectly.... from what the shop told me the front will be held in by screws on the sides and the snug fit, the side skirts are held in all by screw and the rear is held in by screws and adhesive. Did you remove the plate on the front lip?

ahhh i see, yes i told them to shave off the license plate holder on my front lip, i called them up today and asked them if i will be able to remove the body kit in the future and put back the oem pieces if i decided to sell the car. They said it would be no problem. I guess the back they're using some adhesive/urethane to make sure everything is secure... i'm not rushing them at all. I understand it takes time to get it right. But like with you, I have gap issues which they have been working on to get right and to get everything smoothed out. I should get the car back today hopefully. My pieces are all bolted on as well. Most of my gap issues are on the rear bumper on the left and right side where it wraps around where the old mudguards use to be, theres about 1 inch gap on the left side and a small one on the right, but they got that taken care of. I guess they using some sort of adhesive/glue. And on the front lip where that small corner point that touches the factory bottom grill kinds of sticks out...

Ugh...hearing about this makes me glad I didn't get the replica. The hybrid INGS+1 literally fit like a glove on my car, and took me a couple hours to install it myself. I was considering the replica due to the price of the original, but I was lucky enough to find a good deal on an used authentic kit that was already prepainted. Good luck with the install and hope they take care of everything. Post some pix once its all done!

Yea GsUp try and post some pics of your ride if you can...I am getting the hybrid ings kit and i wanna see what it looks liek with some 20's. Its either those or 19's

just got the car back from the shop, they did an awesome job, unbelieveable, i'm glad i went this route, i saved a lot of money...

will try to get some pics up soon... it was worth the wait to, heh...

i got it from 350, lip didn't fit right. the two ends of the lip also didn't line up correctly.
