(PICS) Changed my in-cabin for the 1st time...WOW

Well I have about 62000 miles on my '04 coupe and I changed the in-cabin air filter for the first time. WOW... was it dirty. I know now that I will be changing this filter often. I never thought it was that important or that it really makes a difference to change it. Look at the pics and see for yourself.
Not only was the filter dirty, but so was the housing and turbine.

How often does everyone change their in-cabin filter?

Isn't this supposed to be changed during one of the maintenence intervals? Like the 15k or 30k one?! I'll definately be sure mine is changed when those come up.

Yes, but you an opt not to change it. I changed mine myself at 15,000 miles and it was still pretty clean. ..someone changed theirs and found a rat's nest.. It all depends on your location.

I've noticed that musty smell when I first turn on the air that goes away shortly thereafter. I only have 4500miles on my 6mt. If I take it back to the dealer, will they replace it for free?

I think this might be humidity build up which is different...fixed by turning air conditioner off a couple minuted before stopping he car.

I replaced mine at around 30,000 miles and it's very easy. Here's a better link: http://www.g-owners.com/article_read.asp?id=29

Then I'll be replacing mine at the 15k mark. Living in MD, we get some rather heavy amounts of pollen in the spring time. That's sure to clog things up sooner than later.
