anyone tried a power inverter w/ laptop?

I burnt out 2 car's wires using my power inverter and a laptop hooked up to it... car shops said the wire's gauge wasnt enough to handle it...

anyone have an experience with theirs on the G? i dont want to risk burning another wire out and paying $150 for them to rewire it again

oh, okay...i was thinking something entirely different...I've done it with my ps2...compare the amount of power that takes to a laptop and there's your answer. I think a 300/400 inveter should do the trick.

A cigarette lighter socket usually is marked 120W max, so a 300/400W inverter is a little much to be hooking directly to your cigarette lighter. 120W coming from a 12V socket draws 10 amps That's a lot of heat... Your best bet is to run a wire from your battery. Here is a little chart for you. http://www.powerstream.com/Wire_Size.htm
