Autometer says "no demand for G gauge pods"

I got this email back from autometer today. Obviously they dont surf the 'net, cause Ive seen a lot of guys asking about pillar pods.

"Unfortunately, we have no plans at this time for any Infinite pods or pillars.
We don't seem to hear or see much demand for them.

Thanks,
Matt"

I replied and asked if a group order would be enough for them to come up with something. Who else would be interested in getting some pillar pods for their "infinite"?

Maybe the problem is they searched the web to see if there was interest in "infinite gauge pods" which returned no results :P

That's the shop (IPDG) out of Fort Worth that I was supposed to be getting mine from. There was a misunderstanding with shipping dates, so I thought I would be getting one about a week ago. I'll have to wait till May though, but I got my name on the list for one. I'm excited to see the final product. One of the DFW G35 guys has been testing the prototype and said it was really nice.

The reason I want something like this (complete pillar replacement) instead of an Autometer pod is that you have to attach their pod to your existing A-pillar. This is bad because 1) it messes up your A-pillar, and 2) I think it looks really cheap to have it just stuck on there with tape, screws, etc. Plus, I've never been terribly impressed with the fitment of Autometer's pods, at least the ones that I've seen in person.

Re: Autometer says "no demand for G gauge pods"

I just talked to David at IPDG (g35garage.com or 888-220-8015) and found out a 52mm triple is about a month away. Price should be around $50ish. It should be an attachment, not a complete pillar replacement. If there is an interest in other set ups (doubles, 60mm, etc) then it might be planned down the road, but expect to wait several months. I think I might just get the 52mm and try to cram my 60mm gauges into it.

Re: Autometer says "no demand for G gauge pods"

Between the G forums and the 350Z forums there about 25-30 posters asking for the A-Piller pod. I would agree that that is not enough to do it for a company like Autometer.

Re: Autometer says "no demand for G gauge pods"

Looks like our efforts paid off. I got this today-

Josh,
My how things change. We are going to make G35 pods and pillars! In about 4-6 weeks we should have them available. We'll likely offer a dual pod and a dual and triple full pillar. Please check back with me in a few weeks for an update.

Thanks,
Matt

Sounds good to me.

I also got the same reply from Matt. I am now singing "The Happy Happy Joy Joy" Song. Do you know it?
Then sing along with me

Hello, boys and girls. This is your old pal, Stinky Wizzleteats. This is a song about a whale. No! This is a song about being happy! That's right! It's the Happy Happy Joy Joy song!

Happy Happy Joy Joy Happy Happy Joy Joy
Happy Happy Joy Joy Joy!
I don't think you're happy enough! That's right! I'll teach you to be happy! I'll teach your grandmother to suck eggs! Now, boys and girls, let's try it again!
