Problems w/ Driver Side Door Lock

Hello,

Today my driver side door lock stopped working. Using either the keyless entry or the switch on the door, the passanger lock, is the only one that responds. I now have to lock and unlock my car manually

From what I described, what does it sound like the problem is? door actuator?

Thanks

Yes it is probably the actuator. Same thing happened to mine and the actuator was the problem. You can do a search, there are many threads on this.

Actuators are a common problem on our Gs along with window motors. I've replaced both my actuator and window motor around 23,000 miles. Considering that I've already heard about these going again after replacement, I decided on getting an extended warranty to cover the expense.

I bought an extended warranty as well, I won't have a car without one. It has worked well for me too, my first visit totaled $1,295.14 for the lock actuator, window motor, and two fuel sending units. All of these are well-known problems with these cars so it wasn't surprising. The nice thing is I only paid $973 for the warranty so it has already paid for itself and then some.

is there a DIY on this? I think my actuator AND window motor both went out. How does the door panel come off? Once it is off, is it tough to change out the actuator/window motor?
