definitely not worth going with 8000K. It's practically for show only. Driving? not really.

You found some 3000Ks huh. Im going to get someone to send me the 5000K ones and probably the 5700K ones as well for testing.

^8000 is just blue and looks pretty. Doesnt light up the road as it should, it's nearly 50% dimmer. You might as well go back to halogen.

worst idea ever for lighting up the road. The cover allows a concentrated beam in front of you, instead now it's scattered.

Halogen doesn't require a ballast, HID produces about 20% more light. But the purple color you see from a HID is made by a bulb of Higher color temperature or Kelvin(6000~7000K). At a kelvin higher than 4200~4300K the light output drops.

So potentially the brightness you gain from HID is counteracted by the higher kelvin bulb to achieve different color.

Most people just get it because it's pretty.

I did some research on bulbs last month the best comprimise of color/brightness would be the philips 85122cm but its extremely rare.
Its 4900k and 3100 lumens.
The stock 85122 are 4200k 3200 lumens
85122+ are 4100k 3400 lumens
I could try organize a group buy for them... at a max price of $240 per pair. The cheapest you can find online is $135 per bulb.
