i agree i have done alot of research on this and noticed the higher the k is the less light u have

the d2r are for the g35 2003-2005
the d2s are for the g35 2006

You have a point. I didn't think about that, but even with a D2S bulb the light will be diffused away as glare and not foreground lighting. So technically, the projectors produces output more efficiently and brighter. I don't think it's a noticeable difference though. The lumen value difference between D2R and D2S hasnt been plotted before, Im sure it doesn't add up to anything significant.

 

Here, you can tell the difference between stock and 6000k. Sorry I dont have a pic of the 8000k next to my car...

 

I remember when I got my 06 headlights...I was on of the first to get them and paid a premium for them...I thought they were so cool for the first month.

Then I realized how poor the output was especialy for compared to my friends TSX. Now I know its not fair of a comparision but the difference to me was incredible. His cutoff was incredibly sharp and the output was definitely better than the 06 headlights. I guess my expectations were too high...

D2S: 3200lm, 4250K, 91lm/W, 35W
D2R: 2800lm, 4150K, 80lm/W, 35W

So about 400 lumens difference. Don't bother putting D2S in the reflector. I did an experiment a while back with the stock G35 reflector. D2S gives a worse cutoff without any benefit in brightness.

Just for reference, again from the same website:
OEM Philips D2S is 3200lm bright (+/-450lm) and 4100K colortemp (0.380x 0.390y). (For comparison)
Philips Ultinon D2S is 2400lm bright (+/-250lm) and 5800K colortemp (0.327X 0.312Y).
Philips 5000K D2S is 3100lm bright (+/-???lm) and 5000K colortemp.

If you want blue lights, get whichever 6000K or 8000K bulb that you like, just realize that you will have less lumens (brightness), and this simply based on the specifications from Philips.

If you want blue like from the BMWs with the prism effect, retrofit projectors.

I'm using 4 3900K bulbs (2 at 50W, 2 at 35W). That color temp is considered blasphemy on most car forums. But here's the specification data:

Neither. Went with 5000K Philips. I'm more concerned with actual light output, than being a poser with colorful lights.

and what happens if i just swap out my lenses to tsx's ones?

 

Its a little more complicated than that, I used IvoryGT's DIY, it'll cost you ~$180 for a set of tsx projectors, and a few hours of fiddling around to get the right cutoff and color balance.

not true, HIDplanet has the specs wrong, but I did misquote the 85122+, they are 4200k
85122 (3200lm, 4100K, colorshifts to white after 100+hrs)

85122+ (3400lm, 4200K, does not colorshift)

85122CM (3100lm, 4800K)

85123 (4900K, made for bmw only)
