I preheat to 200 and put them in for ~10-15 minutes. I have left them in for 20 before and never had an issue.

Do what you are the most comfortable with.

I used 300 grit, and it was fine too. I would suggest putting a towel on a cookie sheet and place the headlight on that for 12 minutes at 225. That way you don't have to worry about melting the bottom of the headlight on the cookie sheet. You are probably better off putting them in the oven, because it provides uniform heat, rather than a heat gun which would not be uniform, and could possibly cause warping. But that's just my opinion.

Heatgun will be a huge pain in the a$$. Just heat up the oven to 275°, take one of those flat baking pans and put a wet towel in it, and place the headlight inside lens down or sideways (eitherway works). Leave it in the oven for exactly 10 minutes, take it out and pry it open. I've done over 20 sets that way and NEVER had a problem. Myself... I actually use a new flat usps priority box w/ a wet towel and place it in the oven since I dont have a baking pan, I've used the same box on more than 15 headlights, and never had a problem.

If any of you guys want to get some work done to your headlights, let me know... I do same day services.

you can wrap a piece of card board (pizza box)in tinfoil and rest the head lights on that. a baking pan might get too hot and melt the bottom of your headlights. i wouldnt bake it over 250.you might melt stuff. i did mines at 225 for 8-10min and it took 2 times. first time to pry around the taps and 2nd bake to pull apart. the krylon BBQ grill paint leaves a nice satin finish and it covers very very ecen and smooth. does not leave blotchs on the paint. i used 3/4 of a can on my headlights.

MAKE SURE YOU TAKE OFF THE 3 LITTLE SILVER PHILLIPS THAT SCREW THE 2 HALVES TOGETHER.
