Re: My blue security LED

remove the two screws on either side that are closest to the LED, to separate the board from the black plastic housing

Re: My blue security LED

solder on the new led, if you notice I actually soldered the blue led onto the opposite side of the board, this is because the stock one folded over the board from the backside. since the new blue led that I am using is larger, I decided to mount it on the opposite side to make it fit easier.

Re: My blue security LED

that's it. screw the board back on to the black housing and screw the housing back into the dash finisher.

Re: My blue security LED

The LED that I am using is a panasonic LED that I got from Digikey. Part# is P467-ND. There is no need to order this from Digikey. Go to your local Radio Shack and pick up a blue LED there, Part# 276-316, for $3.99.

Re: My blue security LED

Thanks for the write-up. I have some other blue led's in my car already so I'll probably do it this weekend and take some pics that aren't blurry.

Re: My blue security LED

Thanks, thats great, it does look easy, only question is how did you get that dash finish pice off, does it just pop out or hre there a special place you need to put a screwdriver? I dont want to break it.

Re: My blue security LED

I usually grab mine from the top corners with my fingernails and pull. It's a bitch to get off the first time, be careful with it.

Re: My blue security LED

Trentacinque,
Please do take better pics. All I have to work with is the digital camera that I gave my girlfriend for her birthday, it's the really slim Casio Exilim S3. Nice lil' camera, crappy close up pics.....

Re: My blue security LED

?? That's odd. The only thing that I can think of is if you have the LED backwards, but you probably already checked that....

Re: My blue security LED

Yeah, i checked that. It just doesn't make sense because the old one goes back on and works perfect. This sucks
