My blue security LED

Pretty much a useless mod, but I was bored and thought it would look cooler than the stock red LED. Looks good. Easy to do, took about 5 minutes. Just pull the dash finisher out, unplug the LED wiring harness, the security LED PCB board is mounted on a black plastic housing. Two screws for the housing, two for the PCB board. Desolder the old red LED, put a new blue one in, that's it.

Re: My blue security LED

Hey guys thanks for the compliments. Yup, it's as easy as 1 2 3. The blue LED was purchased from digikey a while back, prolly about 2 years ago. I had some left over from another project I was doing on my old car. Pics and a write up won't come till after the weekend. It's extremely simple, just need a blue led, phillips screwdriver, and a soldering iron. Like I said, took me about 5 minutes.

Re: My blue security LED

Nice! I think it would look even cooler if you have CB or TB color with this mod.

Re: My blue security LED

I've been wanting to do that for a while. Too bad I don't know how the fizzle to solder.

Re: My blue security LED

Now you need some Phoenix Gold amps to match it.

And heat! Pre-tinning helps to make a nice solid join as well. Worse thing to see are cold solder joints. Looks ugly and is very weak mechanically and electrically.

Awesome, 5 minutes? Really? Now that you temped us, step by step would be greatly appreciated.

Just think every time you see that blue light in another G, you will know its your idea.

Here's the write up, sorry for the bad quality of the close up pics, my camera has no auto focus.
