Daytime Running Lights Kit ????????

i just called my local Infiniti dealer enquiring the cost in hooking up the DRL's for an American version G35...i was told they don't actually sell the kit, but they charge 3 hrs labour for this.
1. anyone knowwhere I can pick up the DRl kit? (either in the US or Canada)
2. does 3 hrs labour sound reasonable?

Anybody else get this done on their car?

Thx,

I have not...but a good question...I was always curious why they never put in daytime running lamps...I have them on my 97 truck...I kind of like having things under MY control, but a good question nonetheless....

I wish my car had these. Not sure it's worth 3 hours of labor though.

not sure about DRL, seems like some how they might rig the light switch to an ignition(or something similar) circuit to tell when the car is on or not W a relay or soemthing and cant really see 3 hours(but its the dealer so who knows).........but if its really also a Sensing set up (Auto lights when dark) then it requires a new switch and or splices and a photosensor installed and possibly a module to tell it what to do with the diffrent inputs....... and that i can see 3 hours labor for easy

ummm why pay for labor if you can just manually turn your lights on and off? I know it's a one of a kind thing to do but you can use that money for other things... just a suggestion.

I believe the Canadian G's have DRL, whereas the US does not. Also, our lights are HIDs so that is why it isn't installed that way? I'm not sure but I haven't seen too many HIDs with DRL.

They use the fog lights for the DRL.

Here in Cali, turning on the fogs and not turning on the main lights is a no-no.

My lights are always on when I'm driving ... would that be considered DRL?

i got mine from canadian tire
i bought my G fromthe states. You need to have these installed in order for to pass the REV testing done at Canadian tire. (although the guy didn't even check whether i had them installed) if you don't pass the REV testing youcan't get the car registered... it's a retarded process... all cars in canada require day time running headlights... eventhough i see lots of cars without'em

to the main point.... the kit it costs around 35 dollars and i paid $100 for a local mechanic to install it.
