I just pulled the trigger yesterday on a 2003 G35 coupe with factory xenons. and would like to upgrade to the later projector style. I have a few questions, Is there a DIY on this anywhere? The 05-06 will fit? Will my old ballasts work? Any wiring changes?

There is a guy on the Dallas craigslist that has a pair of 06-07 lights with ballasts and bulbs but he's asking $500. I was hoping to do this for around $300 or less.

it is going to be hard to find a set since they are no longer allowed to be sold...i.e. the Recalled headlights....per your comment above there is nothing different on the ballast aspect from 03-05 to 06-07 headlights. They are directly interchangeable..the only thing different are the bulbs...06 and 07 headlights use D2S and 03-05 use D2R..I believe that 03-05 are H4 foglights and 06-07 are H1's now....the 06-07 from a visibility standpoint are brighter and more crisp of a projected beam being that they have projectors....also there the turn signal is cleared out and the clearance strip has been removed.

cool - thanks for the fast response. I see plenty of late model sets on eBay. What is being outlawed from resale?

alot of the 06 headlights were recalled because they were to bright.....so infiniti when doing the warranty recall was supposed to destroy of the headlights and supposedly alot of them were popping up on ebay for sale at around 200 dollars....

No such thing as it being too bright.

It was due to the fact that SOME had crooked shields that blinds oncoming traffic and can not be adjusted without openning the lights up.

That being said, not ALL recall lights are bad, however they are parts meant to be destroyed and end up being resold.

haha thats funny..I just picked up my car from infiniti today and it had been in there getting the Engine Swapped out since I blew it and I asked about the recalled 06 headlights and they were like....its because they were to bright and people were complaining...this was coming from the Tech's....he said they had done a whole lot of headlights....he also made the comment that the owners could deny the recall..

Because techs know everything right

if G35s are too bright then every TL and every S2000 owners need to throw their headlights away. Because G35 output is mediocre compare to either one of them. go drive next to one and you'll find now what bright means.

They were recalled for glare, I bought a pair that had the exact reason why they needed to be recalled.
