^ I ran into a similar issue with water spots on the inside of the lens. I tried the same method as you just described with a very soft microfiber lens cleaning cloth, and still ended up getting into a situation where enough pressure to clean was starting to damage the coating. In the end, I decided it wasn't worth it because the spots were less visible than the damage that would have been done removing them.

It is possible to remove the coating by sanding and polishing, basically similar to removing oxidation from the outside of the lens. One guy on here did it, I just can't remember who. I do remember he said it was a huge pain in the butt though.

Granted, you would be losing the UV protection, but it's obviously pretty crappy to start with.
If you're painting the bezels, the uv film is less critical (oem chrome bezels don't have a UV coating, but the actual reflector does)

Still, your best bet is to either leave it alone altogether, or at the most rinse only.

No, you need a liquid gasket. There's a reason the headlights are not meant to be serviced. That seal is meant to be permanent, so if you're going to take it apart, you really should put it back together the way it was originally done. We've told you multiple times the correct way to do it, but you don't seem to be listening. If you'd actually read this thread, you'd have seen that you shouldn't use silicone, but you did anyway. You'd also have seen that nobody has recommended weather stripping, which is not meant to be water tight, just mostly air tight. But by all means, feel free to try alternatives. Just don't come crying when they don't work.

Repainted headlights today, and also painted the clearance strip. Mine was yellow/hazy and it looked ugly and stood out with the black housing. Painted them grey (close to the color of my car) and it looks much better as 1 solid color instead of fading to yellow. only thing that sucks is it doesnt light up anymore with the led bulb in there as it does before but that was expected.

Thinking about painting mine with the same dupli-color shadow paint I used on my wheels. I put like 5-6 coats on wheels and it has a green affect to them as well as the black. Good idea?
