Are you waiting a while after taking them out of the oven before trying to pry them apart? You shouldn't wait more than a minute to start prying them apart.

Are you sure you removed the 3 screws from the back of the headlight that hold the lense to the base?

After slightly prying the tabs all along the side of the headlight, start from the bottom of the headlight. You can use a flat head screwdriver to help spred the lense apart from the base

 

Thanks I found out 7 minutes wasnt long enough so by time i took it out the oven it would start to harden again plus it was a pretty chilly night in Orlando.

 

what kind of paint did you use?

 

@and1y1 I used krylon fusion spray paint made for plastics for a super bonding result just make sure you sand the bezels with a fine grit sandpaper. Spray thin layers

 

I asked you about a matte black finish earlier but now I'm thinking of going with a gloss black finish. What paint would you recommend? Thanks.

I just got my g35 last month and dont feel comfortable yet to start taking things apart.

 

Really great DIY! Effin scared though to do it myself, esp if I gotta cook'em first. Anyone local willing to help out? Located in SoCal IE area or straight up swap if you want to go back to stock.

 

I used SEM trim paint. I've used this paint for a lot of stuff and it works great. Never peels and goes on really well. Comes in all different kinds of black.

 

i used bumper coating paint from duplicolor, the finish is nice and smooth. But after just a week I'm starting to see hazing from inside at the top of the light. Right on top around the area of the projector hid bulb. I think the heat from the bulb is making the paint haze the lenses. Like paint fumes from the heat. Do you think this can be cleanned up?

 

^How long did you let the paint cure for before you put them back in the headlights? This happened once before to a guy up here but I believe the paint wasn't left to cure all the way before putting them back in.

Unfortunately, there is no way to clean that off that I know of

I use this on my headlight after every wash. You can also follow up with a coat of wax on your headlights to keep them cleaner longer
