I let the paint dry for 24 hours, before sealing the headlights. I also used additional silicone for more protection. I didn't use primer just paint. I'm going to try plastic x since it looks like the same hazing or oxidation the outside gets. I think the plastic inside is the same as the outside but I'm not sure.

 

It might of been the silicone you used. The inside is not the same. There is a UV coating on the inside. The hazing you are seeing is that layer got damaged. Plastix won't get rid of it I'm afraid but you can give it a try.

Two months ago i did the side strip on my 2003 g35 coupe. It looks ok but one of the LEDs (left) burned and i want to do the whole project. I am very good on computers and normal DIY arround the house but when it comes to my car i am ****less..hahaha
I am asking if anyone is available in GTA (Toronto) are to help me out. Or someone who wants to do its own G and we can help eachother.
I want to do the halo, painting black and side strip led.
FYI..just did the headlight polish and used 3m kit...amazing..went through many sand paper and now looks like new...

 

I started working on this today, and I have a quick question that may have been covered already. When sanding does all of the shine have to come off especially in the grooves? Sorry if this has been covered already.

 

^Nope, just need to rough it all up. You don't have to get all the shine completely off. You will be able to feel the difference between the sanded and non-sanded areas to know when you've got it done.

I don't remember if I coverd it or not in the DIY...but no matter, just ask questions if you need to

I find 300 degrees and 10 minutes to be perfect for breaking them apart.

For re-sealing, the Nissan rubber butyl is way expensive. I recommend getting some of this:


Do NOT use sillicone!

Don't need much since the old stuff is there, but it's there for further peace-of-mind.

Probably warmer than necessary. It's unlikely you'll damage anything even at 300, but it could make it a little too hot to handle when actually pulling the lens cover off. It was awhile ago, but I think I did about 210 or so for 10-12 minutes.

Agreed on the butyl rubber. Silicone can and will have some off-gassing that could cloud the inside of the lens slightly.

 

Has any one used krylon gloss black if so post pics also if I don't want a matte look should I still use primer?
