Take a look at Duplicolor Metalcast. It's meant to give an anodized finish over chrome/polished pieces

I'm having a lot of trouble getting the lens off the housing. I have the screw and ballast off. I heated up via oven at 200F for 7 minutes. Pried the tabs. Tried to pull apart with all my strength and it barely budged like 1mm at most. I've tried jamming a flathead in it and prying the whole thing off, but I only bent the edges. I even tried to reheat with a heat gun, I could see the glue/sealant turn into a gum type of texture, but pulling on it feels as if it won't come off.

Tips, please?

Did you remove the 3 screws on the back side of the headlight that hold the lense to the base? Also pull from the bottom end of the lense.

Yeah, I removed the screws. I thought so, but what about the smaller tabs along the left and right side of the headlight, do those just come undone with enough force? Should I be hulking it off or like 5 out of 10 of my strength lol

When these come apart is that chrome lip shown part of the same piece that's painted or is the painted piece an overlay to the chrome section? Curious if the trim was taped up for that look or that chrome edging was a separate piece making the paint process much easier? Ill have mine by the end of next week and am looking at doing this before installing them.

^ On the 06/07 coupe projectors it's all one piece. The only piece that is removable is the small triangular grey piece you see in the middle of the bezel. It was all taped off.

You have to pry all the tabs around the headlight, not just the ones on the bottom. You need to do this as soon as you remove it from the oven so the plastic is also somewhat pliable. Once you've done that, yes, hulk it starting from the bottom like I mentioned before. Once you get the initial break of the seal it will just come apart easily.

Prying the tabs you'll see the little notches they lock onto. The idea is to pry the tabs close to the edge so they will move over the notches.

Hope that makes sense. Good luck

so for an 03-05 the side strip gets a ugly yellow as if the bulb ink fades down it. how accessible and possible is it to clean that off if I went in?

SO i know this thread is pretty old but i have a solution to the yellowing of the clearance strip on 03-05 headlights. I found this searching the interwebs. You will need 1L of 6-12% hydrogen peroxide and 1 tsp of Oxy-Clean powder. You will first need to take the clearance strip of the headlight housing obviously. Grab a clear plastic container long enough to hold the strip. Add the oxy-clean in the container then put the strip in then bring the container outside in direct sunlight and add the hydrogen peroxide. Leave it out for the whole day from sun up to sun set. The next morning all the yellowing should be gone. If it is not up to your standards you can leave it in for two full days by the end of the second day the strip will look like new. The scientific reason for this is that Bromine inherit in plastic has migrated to the surface (because of the UV rays of the sun)giving you the yellow look. So making this solution and the uv from the sun make a chemical reaction that eliminates the bromine there for deyellowing the plastic. I have tried it and it works ill post photos when i get home of before and after. Just wanted to share this.

I know this is a crazy old posting, but the 04 is still a beast! So I'm doing my lights. I'm having a hell of a time finding a replacement for the amber turn signal lens! I've got blue/amber LEDs to replace the bulb, but blue behind amber looks like a glowing turd!
