quick question for you Chris.

I'll be blacking out my 06 headlights which have the projectors. It's been a couple years since I did my last set of non projectors, but do you know if the projector glass can be unscrewed and removed from the back of the headlight (base)? Or is it safe to cook the light with projector glass inside.

The projector lens stays in Chris. All you really need to remove is the ballast before you bake. Most remove the bulbs too but it's not necessary.

Because it's so cold out right now, I recommend letting the paint cure over night.

Hit me up on my cell if have any questions while you're doing it.

Thanks. I'll probably remove whatever bulbs and wiring that I can before I bake it, since I'll be taking all of it apart anyway.

Got my lights taken apart today. Debating whether or not I should paint the projector shroud in black or keep it silver.

I've always liked this finish/style on the 06 projectors Chris. Just painting the outer smooth part of the bezel.

After some helpful posts, I've decided to do it in flat black and leave that little projector shroud silver on the inside like ThatOneDudes.

My theory with flat black over gloss black is, once the lights are put back together, the lens cover will make it glossy enough.

Lol....flat typically finishes better too Chris. Gloss usually ends up with an orange peel look unless you sand it down some.

If you don't have a finish color yet, look at Duplicolor bumper paint. I've used it on all the sets I've done and the finish is very nice.

Thin coats!

Thanks for the recommendation Chris, I'm definitely taking my time on these since I'm still waiting for LEDS to come in. The car is in pieces right now for a makeover so it's not going anywhere.

Gonna check out that bumper paint, and I'm gonna be careful for sure. want to avoid having the lights look like it was painted by Usain Bolt.
