v35 tail light project

yea so im taking apart my '06 tail lights for my g35 2005 coupe. painting the insides and installing halos. also im trying to eliminate the day time running light on th leds and just have them come on when i brake. i tried to search to see if this has been done on here but i havent seen any threads on this project.

Not sure my thoughts on this, I have seen the tails opened up and they look great inside, if only they had a clear lens. Halos could look alright, would you just have them on a switch? I think there are probably some legal issues with turning the "drl" section of the brake lights off. Think at night they will be off, but only turn on when you brake? Hardly safe.

I have heard its a project to get the lights apart in the first place.

So, you want to get rid of the LEDs as DRLs, when the LEDs on our tails make them some of the most unique and sweetest tails ever? And you want to replace them with halos for DRLs?

Anyways, to answer your question, you are going to have to examine the circuit on the board that the ring LEDs are mounted to. This is what controls all the LEDs and therefore it has to control when they are on softly and when they are on brightly (braking). I doubt you can modify this, but if you figure it out, props!

There are three wires going into the LED circuit board. One is ground, one is + for parking light, one is + for brakes. If this is really what you want to do, just cut the + for parking lights.

thanks thats what i though i like the original tail light design. i just like the thought of dual halos. and if i put just one in the turn signal orfice it wont look consistant. so im doing this. should look pretty clean if not ill stick with my '05s. but im pretty sure itll look hot.
