City/Daylight Running lights

I've always wanted to change the daytime running lights which is the little 194 bulb and i finally decided to go through with it. I tried regular xenon white 194 bulbs and piaa led 194 bulbs but both gave no where near the light that the regular halogen bulbs did. Any suggestions?

I went with a yellow style bulb to go with the yellow fog. Doesnt do much by itself, but it blends well with the fogs when they are on.

you wont find anything close unless you use true high power leds with heatsinking and some kind of active cooling which wont fit in a 194 spot which is why its a city light and not a drl

What im saying is that a true high power led setup be too big to fit in a 194 bulb location . You cant buy them ,they have to be custom built . Drl daytime running lights are always on in the daytime and need powerful light output to be seen and project light . With a 194 city light its more of just cosmetic and has no function . My turn signals are true high power leds .900 lumens of light compared to a 194 led bulb thats around 6lumens of light . High power leds also require a constant current driver .

This is almost 3"x3" with thermoelectric cooling and passive heatsinking and is still not enough heatsinking to run constant . Due to being much higher in power they build lots of heat which needs to be dissapated .

The audi r8 also uses high power led drls in the headlights . Heres a pic of the internals .Notice the big heatsinks and fans for cooling .

Theres a lot of confusion on high power leds cuz all those cheapo leds advertise their leds as high power or 1w or 2wat which they are not .

hid color but not no where near hid output . What you bought is exactly the marketing scam i was talking that has people that dont know any better thinking their getting a high power 3watt led which they are not . They are just the same low power leds as the rest and cheap ones at that . Most are 3-4v leds that run at 20ma and put out 4-8lumens . A high power led runs at 3-4v @ 350-1000+ma and puts out 100+ lumens . factory hid bulbs put out about 2000 lumens . Some new cars are making high power leds low beams now that are stable at around 1800lumens but it takes a lot to do it .
