you have to drop down the whole glovebox...on the backside of that area in by the ECU there is a lock-in harness that you rotate and pull out. you can then access the bulb...replace it and put the harness back in place. Its the easiest, less stressful and takes all of 30 mins.
I wasnt able to get a pair of needles nose onto the bulb and pry it loose without breaking..maybe having some rubber pading on the end for grip like the old ROBO GRIP pliers would help...
First off remove the bottom tray piece by just pulling down on it and out. there should be 2 clips on the front side and there are grooves on the back that fit into place at the firewall area. Pretty self explanatory.
On the glove box to drop down..you must take out the passenger side plastic trim on the foot area. should just pop straight off. At the back side up against the firewall on the inner kick panel there is a plastic nut..un-screw that piece first. you then have to remove the inner passenger kick panel with a flathead. Pull back the weather stripping first and you should be able to see an area to place a flat head in there.
once popped off there is a screw inside of that area that holds the glovebox in place..should be right above the lower kick panel clip in plain sight. there will be a second screw on the bottom side to the left. take that out as well. Then lower down the glovebox and you should now see 4 screws. 1 to the left and 1 to the right and the 2 holding on the metal ring that the glovebox locks into. take out all 4 of those...no order needed. you then should be able to apply some pressure to the glove box door and pop it loose. This will then allow you to access the backside of the Glovebox light area that you can just turn loose the harness and replace the bulb.
to install just repeat steps back forward.
hopefully that helps.

yeah.. that GB lamp puzzled the crap outta me as well, when i first looked at it.. thought the bulb was connected to a plastic housing that plugged into the connector... then after looking at the replacement diagrams in the Tech/Service manual.. i realized.. it was simply the bulb plugged into the whole connector assy.. i used one of those rubber lid remover things that they pass out with insurance salesman crap on them.. gripped it.. and ripped it.. BAM!... the bulb came out.. dropped in my VLEDS replacement.. direct fit..not muss no fuss.. looks AWESOME!
All i have left is the ash tray bulb... VLEDS no longer carries White T-4 replacements.. only T-5's.. :/

This is what I used... fills the GB with nice even white light.. especially with the side firing LEDs as well as the front firing led... full coverage.. tried just a front firing type.. not enough light.. too directional.
