@Carlo, it takes a regular HID kit for the H1 socket type for our headlights. Also, please do a search as this has been covered many times. Here is one of my replies to another thread on the same topic. Keep in mind these are MY experiences, your experience with this may differ from mine.

Oem ballasts wash out color in the bulbs. So if you're trying to match, take a step down from what you have from your low beams. I have 8000k low beams with 6000k foglights and they match dead on.

I put 6000k in my low beams recently and they don't match my 6000k foglights what so ever. Maybe it's just the bulbs I'm buying, but my 6000k look pure white with the OEM ballasts, yet with their aftermarket ballasts they appear to look like what they're supposed to. I tried getting 5000k from my local place with no avail (rarely stock 5000k).

So basically, bulbs with the OEM ballasts make it look like 1 step down from what they known to be.

8000k lows -> 600k fogs
6000k fogs -> 5000k lows
etc. etc.

Personally, unless you do see a lot of fog and adverse weather, I think color matching should be fine. If I'm correct, 3000k is just as useful as a 8000k aftermarket kit during normal clear nighttime driving, just the difference is when it comes to fog, that is when it really shines.

Hope this helps.

And remember to please aim your headlights. Even try to get a friend or somebody to be in another car and have you drive towards them to see if there's any glare from the fogs cause if anythings gonna glare, it's the fogs.

Edit: Here is my 8000k low to 6000k fog setup.

Another thing that I didn't mention is that post is that the reflector lense shows slightly more color compared to a projector lense when you're looking at the headlight. The color on the ground will probably be the same

Here is a link that goes over a problem many people run into when installing HIDs for our projector lights. My post is at the bottom of the page.

@Vincenz, since you have the 03, you'll need to buy a HID conversion kit for the H4 socket. From my experiences, "bi-xenon" kits tend to be a hit or miss. A lot of people have issues with them coming out with very bad beam patterns. If you don't use high beams often and willing to give it up, I STRONGLY recommend you stick to a single beam HID kit.

I just did hid fog conversion with 6k bulbs. They throw light all over but make a huge difference. I am waiting for my 6k projectors to get here (tomorrow). I hope they are a pretty close match since the new fogs make my stocker projectors look like crap. I wanted a uniform look. I will let you knoew how they look once installed.

hey guys, I have a 06 coupe. I'm looking also to change up my fogs. or maybe the low and high. I'm sorry but I'm a little confused. On a 06 we already have HID's right? can I just replace the bulb? On the fogs there's not a kit that is a plug and play? I have to change the whole ballasts? Sorry if I sound like a retart I'm just really confused right now. and the highs are a whole different kit.

On the 06 and 07s the high and low beam are projectors with a 4300k hid for it. You are correct in that. But if you want to change that stock hid to a more bluish color you can buy just the bulb and don't need a whole kit. The bulb number is d2s and if you go to vendor classifieds there are some sponsors that sell them. I'm buying mine from marinelli motorsports, their ad is in the vendor classifieds. As for the fog light you are going to need to buy a full hid kit for an h1 bulb. You need ballasts to convert the fogs to hids so you will need to buy a whole kit and not just the bulb. If you buy just the d2s bulb to change the stock hid it will change both the low and high beam so you don't need a different part or anything to change the high beams

i got the 6k's in my car and took them out because there was not that much of a difference in color from stock. They looked good but not what i wanted. I have since ordered 8k bulbs and will be getting those this week. I will post a pic once i get them installed. If the 8k's dont match then im giving up.

the hid fogs are great! They make a huge difference. I bought a cheaper set from hid nation and have been very happy with them. I did a slim ballast upgrade so it was easier to mount. i did not do the relay and have had no problems with flickering. i would of liked to buy a name brand but when money is tight you do what you have to do. i have about 6 friends that have all bought from the same place and nobody has had issues.

That looks good man. Same setup I used to run. Now I have 6,000k lows with 3,000k fogs. Just got kind of tired of the "blueish" look
