FANTASTIC JOB! This is hands down one of the coolest interior mods and the fact that you are pioneering it all through trial and error is outstanding. Excellent work, I'm super impressed by how good this is turning out for you. Keep it up! Figure out how rig everything up, then start assembling them and selling them!

Thanks man! Very kind words much appreciated. Obviously it's a little over the top, but to originate the full intergration is pretty awesome, and IMO worth every minute.

The fact that the result is turning out so well is a major bonus

Mostly get the component stuff from www.superbrightleds.com
There stuff has proven to be consistantly high quality. Prices reflect dealing with a major supplier, but on most items prices are very reasonable.

All my Plug And Play stuff comes from a great young man named Alex Tyutunnik. He's **** as I am about quality and has scoured for the best chips and the most reliability. He's doing great things, and his prices are less than half the competition. Let him know I (Matt A.K.A. TunerMax) sent you along and he'll set you up with all your plug and play needs for a price you literally won't believe.

Here's his website: www.innovizion.ca

Hey Matt any updates on this project?
I just recently found that LTech also has a wifi controller module that lets you use Iphone or Android to control the LED's.
I dunno why it's not bluetooth and only 3a max each channel, but take a look: http://www.ltech.cn/english/product/...ontroller.html

That's so cool!! Thanks for sharing that dude.

There are some updates coming, it's cold here and the car is parked so I've completely torn it apart inside for a ton of interior customization, CF, Moulding, paint, and finishing that pesky center console, which I coincidentally just took apart tonight!!

In the next month or so after Christmas dies down I should have the Console done, but won't be in and tested until the paint work is done on the dash.

I highly recommend getting the JDM double din kit while you've got it apart, with an aftermarket head unit of course.
Too many potential and well known problems with the stock HU. Glad you're still working on lighting!
And one of these days I'm going to try to tackle the motorized JDM mirrors for the coupe too.

Right on dude!

I'm not throwing money into the audio unit, I'm actually quite happy with this Bose unit. I will be taking it apart to fix the cold solders that cause the intermittent issues it's known for.

It's too expensive to put a Double Din in this car, by the time you get the JDM unit, ACC harness/wiring, a nice Navi/double din, and something to integrate it all to the steering controls, it's easily over $1100, and I'm in canada, so add $500 to that probably.

Oh you have the navi. Isn't that really a big waste of space?
I've been working on fitting customized PS2 (yea old school, but I mod) where the navi brain would be.
Another good side of going double din, less buttons to have to swap LED's on.
I still can't believe Nissan put the AC controls and the stereo on the same PCB, dumbest thing I've seen on the car.

Meh could be worse, lol.

No I don't have navi, but I wouldn't even buy a replacement double din unit without Navi.

I have thought about doing a custom flip out screen that comes out from the side, etc, and also considered a CarPC setup, so until I decide what I really want to do also, there's no point spending money.

On top of that, there really isn't a need for a JDM double din, i can cut my current one probably if I need to for whatever the biggest screen I can jam in there when the time comes, lol.

Yea some others here have carved out the faceplate for the DD. I literally just now came across another gadget that may tickle your fancy or at least trigger some ideas.

Jan 19/2013 Update

This audio unit has me really, really regretting this job.

Now. If I were doing a simple colour change on the LED's, it'd be a cake walk. Remove old SMD's, install new ones, reassemble, enjoy!

BUT I'm a crazy hooker and I JUST HAD to do this CRAZY RGB shenanigans. SMFH.

So I was working out the logistics of this massacre. It seems most logical to simply remove all the existing SMD's where needed, and mount my new 5050's to the plastic piece as shown:

I have to run individual wires to every one of these things. That's 4 wires per LED i'm installing.
Space is a problem.
So I shaved down the mounting surface on one row, pictured, for testing. The cut looks rough from the close-up, but is actually more than good enough for this, I'll have to seal it all up with epoxy when it's done anyways so it will not matter much.

Time to start testing how I'm going to do this, seems like I might have it sorted out for now, until things get more complicated further down the row with indicator LED's that are right in the wire path...........
Done a little crudely for testing purposes, will be cleaned up, of course:
