confused on headlight

confused on headlight

i have a 2006 sedan and am replacing the low beam headlight. autozone and all websites tell me its a sylvania d2s bulb, however the headlight lens covers says d2R...are they the same or which should i use....i want to know before i go to the trouble of replacing it....thanks in advance for any help.

They are not interchangeable!!! Be sure to get the D2R for your sedan!

A lot of stores and shops will not know the difference between the coupes and sedans and usually only list coupes. Your 2006 sedan uses the D2R which are for reflectors, 2006 coupes use the D2S which are for projectors. They are not interchangeable parts, only a D2C is interchangeable in fitment between the two different headlights.

An easy way to remember this - R for reflector, S for shielded (like a projector), and C for combo.

The difference between the two is the D2R has a shield on it. The D2S does not. You need that shield on a reflector based headlight to avoid glare.

Here is a picture of the difference.

D2C doesn't have the shield either, but a lot of people claim that it works fine in their reflector headlight.

i had d2c on my reflectors saw no difference lol
