I got a set of 6ks waiting to go in...

...this might make no sense, but to me, 8k seemed like over-kill...6k seemed like a happy medium.

Neither, Philips 4100k is still the best.

However, that wasn't your question or any of the options. If you must have "color" that so many people in the forum want so bad, stick with 6000k. Why? Only one well known company makes quality 6000k capsules and that's Philips.

Philips Ultinon 6000k to be exact:

I do not know what we have in our G35 (Osram or Philips) because I recently got it and haven't had the chance to look in there.

Philips and Osram 4100k/4300k capsules are 3200 Lumens.

Philips 6000k are about 2800 Lumens if I am not mistaken. Maybe even lower I have to check the numbers again.

Keep in mind these rating are at its maximum life (0 hours). As soon as you begin to use it the lumens will begin to drop, gradually of course.

Interesting! So, the higher rated (k = kelvin, for color "temperature"?) capsules actually put out less light? I wasn't aware of that.

I think the stock lighting is decent and could care less about the color, but I certainly wouldn't mind a lil more oomph in the headlights overall. I've driven bimmers and acuras that seemed to have clearer, more power headlamps.
