Idaho not a big deal either...

(a) On each side, two (2) side marker lamps, one (1) at or near the front
and one (1) at or near the rear; and

They just have to be there here, they don't care about color either. That is right from the statute.

Looks like they don't car in wisconsin either...

I think I have made my point, so I am going to quit looking these up. If they are not legal in Cali, my bad... I'm sorry, it looks like California's uber erestrictive automobile laws a leading the nation in the wrong direction once again.

TRANS 305.14 SIDE MARKER LAMPS . CLEARANCE LAMPS AND REFLEC -
TORS. (1 ) Every motor vehicle originally equipped with side marker lamps , every motor
vehicle manufactured after January 1 , 1969 , every vehicle registered as a homemade
vehicle on or after January 1 , 1975, and every vehicle registered as a reconstructed
vehicle after [Revisor insert the effective date of this chapter] shall be equipped with side
marker lamps and reflectors marking at least the front and rear corners of the vehicle .
(2) Every motor vehicle originally equipped with clearance lamps as defined in s .
340.01 (7), Stats ., or reflectors shall have such lamps or reflectors maintained in
conformity with this section and with ss . 347. 16 to 347 . 19, Stats .
(3) Side marker lamp and clearance lamp wiring and connections shall be
maintained in good condition .
(4) Side marker lamps, clearance lamps and reflectors shall be securely mounted
and maintained in proper working condition .

This Court reviews this matter under a de novo standard. Ornealas v. United States, 517 U.S. 690 (1996); Connor v. State, 803 So.2d 608 (Fla. 2001). The Court is not persuaded by the State’s argument that Florida law requires side marker lights. None of the statutes cited by the State require side marker lights. Also, stopping the defendant because of an equipment violation is not warranted under the facts of this case because the non-working marker lights did not cause an immediate danger to any one.
But that lighting up, has nothing to do w/ reflecting amber. You still have to have amber reflectors per DOT federal laws. Just because State law says nothing about color that doesn't supersede federal laws.

That's funny. I've lived in CA all my life and I've never seen anything like that.

Once again, you are wrong. They MUST reflect AMBER. That means they MUST have and AMBER lense.

And WRAH is right it is a Federal DOT law, although some states do not enforce it.

asadiow, you just need to be careful when making blanket statements with misinformation.

Correct. I know all of you anxiously desire to stay in complaince of all federal regulations, so for some light reading, here is the link to CFR 49, Part 571, Section 108; Lamps, reflective devices, and associated equipment.

On the subject of reflectors, it says:

"Reflex reflectors.... 4 red; 2 amber..... SAE J594f, January 1977."

On the subject of side marker lights, it says:

"Side marker lamps.... 2 red; 2 amber.... SAE J592e, July 1972."

Wow, I can't believe how much attention this post has gotten. There are alot of things we do to our cars that make them "illegal". Pulling cats to put on test pipes, clear corners, tint, liscense plate covers, etc. If a cop pulls you over for clear corners, he has other things on his mind or he has nothing else to do. I just say if you want clears, put them on! If not, so be it. Sheesh.

You're missing the point. I could care less if you put illegal stuff on your car. The point is someone in this thread posted something that was incorrect and misleading. He was corrected, end of story.

If the cops won't get you... in LA they are sometimes a little busy with little stuff like drive-by's, then the absolutely **** parking ticket morons won't forget to write you up!

Two most annoying and lame reasons that will get you a ticket are probably no front license plate and clear corners (i think)!

Clear corners

Anyway, so where can I buy the best ones for the cheapest price?
Ebay has them for over $40 shipped. Anyone know a good reliable source?
I have a ivory pearl coupe, and those clear side markers are a must!
