It reminds me of people who put HID bulbs in halogen housings and get something like this.
6000K HID in halogen reflector housing:
"MY HIDZzzz ARE SO BRIGHTT!@#!#!"

vs.

4100K HID in an OEM projector housing

Garbage. Any bulb with a blue coating is not going to out perform a clear bulb. If you are willing to sacrifice actual light output then go ahead.

Ok well the 4x is a higher output draw (W) so depends on the wattage of our fogs, in that case I think the 2x is correct?

What bulb did you recommend then the Sylvania OSGRAM? Isn't that what they sell at Walmart? At least PIAA has a reputation on their stuff, I think they have a white / clear bulb.

I agree projectors are better, the technology is simply more advanced than reflector no arguements there. I just want something to match the HID low beam so I can run with my fogs on, and not sacrifice too many lumens.

A reputation for making overpriced bulbs that aren't any better than anyone else.

You need to find a vendor who sells Osram Silverstars NOT Sylvania Silverstars. They are the same company but the Osram bulbs are European spec and DO NOT come with a blue coating. I cannot remember off the top of my head what vendor I got it from. Try a search.

Here is a blurb about the Osram Silverstar line:

well hey its true the saying, you get what you pay for, so a $10 walmart bulb could be pretty crappy or good. You never know.

thanks, ebay time.

so these def produce near as much as the stock halogen yellow I would guess since the bulb is actually clear?

No they will definitely be whiter in comparison to the stock halogen fog bulb. You could sacrifice a little output and get the Sylvania Silverstars which run at 4000-4100K. It is upto you. Both silverstar bulbs will be better than any of those Hyperwhite PIAA bulbs people seem to love.

If you're still interested in the MTEC's you'll want the 2x type. They are the 60/55 watt type which is the same as stock.

well 4000K should be close enough to the stock HID but have decent output, I found those OSRAM bulbs on ebay for a reasonable amnt. Anyplace you know which actually shows lumen output?

I'm looking on ebay for all of them. I found out the osrams are 910 / 1500 lumens (pretty crappy) but at least I got #'s for one of them.
