RetroFit or 2006 headlights then sell mine

well first of all i want to know how hard it is to retrofit and so on. i can take a headlight off a car and take it apart and so on

Or i can do that easy thing and just buy 2006 headlights

what are the best projectors for the g35? s2000 tsx? e46?

it depends on if you want to spend the time/effort to the retrofit. i did the OEM 2006 swap in my 05 and am satisfied with the output. i didn't mind losing the clearance lights because i didn't like the look of them in the first place. output of the oem is comparable to tsx/s2000, has sharp cutoff, but little color. also, with OEM you don't have to worry about leaks/condensation in the housing, and you get bi-xenon rather than just single. If you want tons of color & razor sharp cutoff, and have the mechanical ability to put together a retrofit, go for it, otherwise just get the 2006 and sell yours. With the swap, i ended up spending about $200 net after selling my old housings.

i think it depends on your skill, but check hidplanet.com forums for more info, also check out PeteNJ's G35/TSX retrofit (it's posted here and on hidplanet)

If you have never done a retrofit, then it might take longer than 3 days. And it depends on how thorough you want to get. If you want to spend time perfecting a washer mod, or time trying to get the rotational/horizontal aiming exact, then obviously that takes more time.

E46 fit well, but the cutoff isn't super sharp.

I've been able to mount the TSX's with no modification needed to the back dust caps. But in order to do this, I had to mount them to the stock reflectors, and modify the TSX's with a custom shroud, so it won't look funny. That took a 1 month to do on my schedule.

If you just want projectors, just buy the 2006 lights.

If you want good color, sharp cutoff, then you'll have to put in TSX or S2000's.

I'm sure the 2006 projectors can be modified, but at that point you're taking the lights apart anyway, so you might as well just take apart your existing lights. I'm sure the 2006 projectors will look nice with some clear lenses and washer mod.

The 2006 lights look like there's less room in the fog light section though for a quad projector retrofit. The TLs barely fit in the 2003-2005 housings. That solenoid tends to hit the part where the ballast is mounted. I had to modify my TL projectors to get them to fit without hitting the bezel.

The E46 cut-off is super sharp, if you don't want to color mod your lights. Its more of an either or with the E46 you can get a thick 3+ inch color band, or a razor sharp cut-off.

$580 for 06 projectors? is that guy reliable? seems like a good price, since my dealer charges me $770 for 1 headlamp and thats the 04 model... :/ $580 is a good price for both, and not to mention projectors too...

would it be easy to install these on an 05 or lower model coupe? is it basically plug n play?
