........., but not broke yet, (like much of the rest of me.
)Butt meter says a marginal bump, but that's all you'd expect from a TD mod anyway on our engines.
I'm hoping for a few more after a little intake work.

From what I understand, Nissan puts the same exhaust on the VQ equipped M's instead of having a higher flow unit for the VK.
I think it may have been slightly restrictive for the 8..
As far as the cams and other major mods, sure it would be nice but warranty is important. I better not go too crazy. It could 'expensive'.
But thanks for the encouragement.

Wayne,
So nice to see you, K., and Meg again of course. You live in such a lovely area, it's hard to resist, and well worth the drive.
Appears that more is noticeable outside the M than inside. ONly slightly more rumble can be heard from the D/S.
I haven't opened it up yet, but I'm expecting change in sound there too. We'll see.

Hey bro, yes there's nothing like the lure and rumble of a healthy V-8, can't wait to show you at the next meet. (which I hope is soon..
)
How's the 'dash work' going....smoothly I hope.

We'll have to plan a get together soon b4 holiday season sets in and most go away on vac.
Can't wait for everyone to see the new C/F B-pillar panels, and see and hear the exhaust too.

I am also interested in fabricating a custom TD exhaust for my M35. I am not sure how different is it compared to the M45. However, judging from the picture, the at least the ypipe looks different. I took some pictures of my car.
What do you think of going to a TD for the VQ? According to the exhaust shop, he wants to change everything from the cat to the muffler. Maybe keep the OEM muffler. He said that the piping leading to the muffler is quite small, like less than 2in. However having the smaller piping helps increase backpressure and low-end torque, and quiets down the car. Do you think there is any benfit in changing out the rest of the piping, or just change the portion you did in converting the exhaust to a TD?
The shop wants to charge me $1k, which I think it's kind of high. I could just spend the money on the stillen catback.
Thanks,
Baron

If I were you, I'd find a small fabricating shop (like I did) and see about modifying yours like I did...by cutting out the middle constricting section, and welding in 2 lengths of SS tubing (2").
I wouldn't worry about the smaller piping at the rear......the last thing you want to do is lessen torque.....and you may do that by increasing their diameters.
As you saw, I saved the section that was cut out 'just in case'.
You can always go for an aftermarket settup that is available for the VQ, if you're not happy with the 'home mod', but I suspect it may be ok for yours too. If it is ok, then you've only spent peanuts.
Yeah, lol, that $1k sounds high, but they're probably talking about fabricating a complete system right back......and that may not be what you want. You won't know how it'll sound until it's done, and then it's too late.
The mod I've done is effective, but minor 'surgery', and reversible if necessary. I'd definitely go that route if I were you.
BTW, They charged me $45/side and with a $10 tip (and no tax-
) it was a cheap mod.G/L and let me know what you decide to do.
