08 front bumper on an 06/07 M35/M45

anyone know if the 08 front bumper is a direct swap for the 06 and 07 M35/45?

"The revised exterior styling for 2008 includes a new front grille and bumpers, lower air intake, fog lamps and side sills. In the rear, the new M features revised fenders, taillights, deck lid and a new optional rear spoiler design."

It seems like the the new 08 front bumper (and grill) is just new piece that would fit on same structure. We probably won't know how easy it is until somebody tries it, but seems like it would be well worth the money for this sorta update on an 06 or 07.

Anyway, what do you guys think?

i went to the L.A. auto show today and the infinity rep said that it is just a new bumper and grill (for the front), and could PROBABLY be swicthed out pretty easily. If none of you guys do this swap, I hope I'll be the first. Pictures from the L.A. Auto Show are posted in the link below (M35 pics are at the bottom):

I just bought a '06 M35 and is being shipped from Ohio to CA because I got a great deal for EXACTLY what I wanted. Pictures of my new car (which I've yet to have seen in person) are posted in the link below:

I think (I HOPE) it works, he cars are practically identical when it comes to parts for it. If it fits the "06/07 M with an 08 front bumper mod" is gonna be VERY popular, if the price is right.

im thinkin it might work.. the rear bumper is a tad longer than the older one and the exhaust tips sit about 3" inches farther in than the '06-'07 M's

good luck...

Here is what is different body wise on the new Y50

Front Bumper
Front Grille
Front Hood
Front Fenders
Front Headlights

If you look at the grille next to the earlier Y50, it buldges out more... it does not look like any of the parts are interchangeable..

On the rear... the whole rear quarter panels are different, including the trunk lid and rear bumper... The tail lights wont work unfortunately...

The door panels actually stayed the same... all the new M's have different paint from the earlier, so if you want that chrome accent strip, I will have to figure out the paint closest to what your older M has to get them to match (since part is color matched)...

How are the headlights any different? They might have actual Bi-Xenon or something but the shape has changed?? That doesn't make much sense if they are just doing a re-fresh and have a whole new model coming out in about a year...

Didn't the M35/M45 just come out in 2006?

Actually the next M should arrive for the '10 or (at the latest) '11 model year. I doubt Infiniti would go through all the trouble to freshen up the M for '08 only to replace it in '09. My guess is that whatever Infiniti shoves under the hood of the '09 FX will appear under the hood of the '10 M.

Three years is a ridiculously short life span for the M.

Anyone tried this conversion yet for the FRONT BUMPER of the 06/07 M35?

Is it confirmed that the parts are not directly interchangable? If not, possibly a close match that would be possible with little modification.

Here are the parts diagrams for each of the of the bumpers:

06/07:

http://picasaweb.google.com/miketamm...33632939424386

08 Sport:

http://picasaweb.google.com/miketamm...33626759189314

08 Non-Sport:

http://picasaweb.google.com/miketamm...33634935561538

This seems to be very do-able. Correct me if I'm wrong, but is seems that the 08 sport swap would just be the 08 sport front bumper installed using the same connections, minus part # G2653GA.

The 08 non-sport swap would be the same thing except you would also have to use the part # 08146-6162H for the 08 non-sport connection (instead of the 08146-6202G connection for the 06/07 or 08 sport).

Please let me know if you notice anything wrong or if you have additional info.

(It is probably best to download the pictures from Picasa so you can see the details of the diagrams)

BTW I am the original poster of this question, but I could not login to my original account for some reason.
