well...i got the job at HRE after i had the iforged wheels for over 1 and a half years. after i started working there, i needed to get into some HRE's quick.

perhaps since it is a step lip it isn't as long?

All my other wheels in the past had a 4in lip in the rear and a 2 1/2 in the front and I didnt have to do any rolling. Ive now ordered the new iforged line that offers a 5in rear lip and 3in front lip without rolling. How can they get away with it?
its all about offsets. lip size is not only b/c of how wide the rim is. if you ahve a vert aggressive offset its going to be very close to the caliper (i think it works that way) and u get a larger lip. i know Giovanna wheels and GFG make wheels depending on how large a lip the customer wants, so all you do is adjust the offset enough to fit the car. cant go too crazy though cuz then it wont fit

G352NV: there are many factors that affect the size of the lip when it comes to making wheels. most people just go by offsets, but the actual profile of the wheel plays a big role (the shape of the spoke). two different wheels may have the same offset, but one may not clear the brakes, if put on the same car. iforged wheels are typically very flat, and have a lot of meat in the center. this is a good place to hide an axle. HRE's have a bowl shape in the center, which makes the center (cross section) thinner, and lighter but makes any hub or axle obstructions hard to accomodate. i could have just added more material to the hub length, but i would have had to come down a lip size or have the wheels be pushed too far out.
iforged has their new wheels which bow way out in the center, and the spoke tips curve waaay back in at the rim. sort of like the J5/J8 wheels, which allows for a big lip...the cheater lip. again, more weight.
my iforged wheels were 20 x 8.5 and 20 x 10. my HRE's are 20 x 9 and 20 x 10.5 and the fronts weigh 3 pounds lighter, and the rears weigh 6 pounds lighter.

I think the HRE's are nice wheels despite what others say.
But does weight really matter that much? Your netting a savings of 18 lbs, what difference is that really making in terms of HP to the wheels and/or mileage? Is that worth cutting the axles? I'd say take the back seat/spare tire out then.
I mean if your racing the car lbs. matter, but as a daily driver I'd say go to the gym. Maybe you could enlighten me about the weight/benefit ratio.
