Thanks
I've done an emblemless grille and now have a full blacked out grille since this thread. I think I need to decide on what I want and leave it alone lol

Hey I forgot about this thread. I referanced it before I did mine. I only used 800 grit though.
Sanded the last coat of primer before the paint, after several coats (I think about 4-5) I sanded the last layer and then started on clear. After a couple layers of matte clear, I sanded very lightly and put on the last layer.
I'm very happy with the way it came out. Sanding the 2nd-last layer of clear helped eliminate any orange peel.

^That came out great Ashley
I use Duplicolor Bumper Coating cause it has a flex agent in it. All my friends up here use the same paint. It's held up nicely so far. I love the finish on it. It flattens itself out and lays down nicely. You just have to remember to do thin layers so you don't have to deal with overspray

It's easy. As you can see in the thread, others that were scared to try it did and were successful. If you can take the down time, bring me the headlights and I'll bake them apart for you, then you can take them home and give them some rattle can love

haha im going to hibernate on the idea lol thanks tho

Did you see a noticeable difference before the clear went on as opposed to after? How much gloss did it give it compared to JUST the bumper coating paint?
Thanks
^Not a huge difference, but slightly noticeable.
As you'll note, I used matte clear. It didn't add any gloss at all. Quite the opposite.
My only reason for adding clear was just a little extra protection, as the grill does take a beating.
Also, I did not use "bumper coating" paint. I used Valspar spray paint:
