zero sand paper has been used. do i need to sand it? i thought since it was smooth i didnt have to, ive just been rubbing polish on and then wiping it off with a clean rag

Gotcha. Well mines a little dirty so I use really fine sandpaper to get the surface gunk off, then the compound as well.

I'm still learning the best method to do everything so don't take me word for word.

oh ok. maybe i will try the sandpaper method tomorrow when i do some more. and see how that goes. what grit should i use? like 2000?

Well considering I get slight streaks from the coarseness of 120 grit after the compound, something like that would prob be best.

Kenny definitely try the sand paper method, I think you'll see even better results. Nice work so far.

i started doing mine a few months ago and gave up using polish. i also didnt use sandpaper but i rather just buy a polished timing cover lol

Sand then polish. No point in sanding something you've spent hours on to polish lol.

This is defiantly a project i want to attempt. What if you could get a buffer in there, i am sure that would speed things up.

Sand, sand, sand, then polish. I haven't started mine yet but it's like polishing stainless bolts. I typically run through 3 grades of sandpaper before polishing. 400, 800 then 1500. You will never get it to really shine unless you use sandpaper first. bigc did his by hand and it looks amazing

That's for stainless bolts....lol...the cover will take more than that

even a polishing bit on a drimel would be hard to get in some areas. just because of the angles that you would have to put it at. but by hand is THAT hard. its just very time consuming
