04X Sedan S2K Headlight Retrofit

Well, the time has come to jump in again with both feet and start this thing. I finally managed to find a reasonably priced AM headlight with a perfect lens to get started. This will be my 7th retro and this one like most of the others, poses some significant challenges, most around the strange headlight/foglight design. The bucket of the hid lowbeam is very small as you know and making it look nice, will require some thinking. I haven't decided on a final design yet (shrouds, angel eyes, leds etc.) Any suggestion or comments are welcome, I won't be offended, I promise lol!

Anyway, this will be a work in progress and I'll be posting updates with pics as I go along. With a little luck, these things will be ready by spring for final aiming and be on the car for the first of the warm weather. No pics of the baking as there are already plenty of those......

Looks good so far, its not an easy retro to do on the sedan headlights.

Nice work. Please keep us updated with final projector mounting points, and the shrouds you use. I imagine you'd have to trim the bottom of the shroud to match the contour of the lower reflector casing?

Also, how are you powering the S2K projectors? Honda or Infiniti ballasts? Plug n play would be nice but it seems like some splicing is required in all retrofits.

My understanding is that the S2000 projectors are not bi-xenon. So you will retain the stock high/fog function?

Sorry for all the questions. I've wanted to do a projector retrofit for ages, and don't want to butcher my stock headlights (05-06 are $$$), so I want to have a very specific idea of how I'll do the retrofit before I go through with it.

EDIT: seems that the retrofit source has a kit that would be plug n play bi-xenon: http://www.theretrofitsource.com/pro...roducts_id=141

I guess the fog light switch would toggle lows on/off, and the stalk would activate high beams in a normal manner.

^Correct, S2Ks are not bi-xenon.

Looking forward to seeing how everything turns out.

These things will be P&P, I'm just gonna use the existing ballasts & ignitors. The shrouds will definitely have to be trimmed. As candlestick confirmed S2K's are single xenon. I like bixenons but want to keep the low beam projector in it's current position/location and no way any bixenon is going to fit in. I doubt even the mini the Retrofitsource is offering would fit but the S2K's are far superior anyway and I'm going to stick with them. I don't mind the halogen highbeams..... though the fogs suk ***. Too bad there wasn't any easy way to install a nice looking AM foglight kit in a factory bumper but meh. More pics to come.....

Didn't get much of a chance last couple days to do anything....puttered a little today and I couldn't help myself. In case I needed any reminding of why I'm doing this....insert (gratuitous cutoff shot) here.

Fyi, the mini bixenon will fit up top in the sedan lights. I put them in viveks headlights. The only issue with putting the s2k up top and if you decide to put a bixenon down low for the hi/fog is that with the wiring going thru the bcm, is that if you using the power from the fog for the low it will kick off when you hit the high beam. good luck cant wait to see finished pics

Good to know. How did you wire the bixenons? Use factory low beam ballast and ignitor then somehow tap into fog/high wiring to control the bixenon solenoid?

Ya I figured the mini would work but they're not even in the same league as S2K's and I don't want to sacrifice low beam output. At this time I really have no desire to do a dual retro. I'm quite satisfied with my highbeam/fog setup as it is and for the very few times I use the high beams, not worth the extra work. I also think dual projectors in the 04 housings looks kinda goofy imo. I did a bixenon retro in my wife's Sentra and I do like the xenon highbeam but again, not worth the extra work/headaches for a questionable look in the 1st gen sedans........

Pretty sure you just have to tap the high beam wire......to the solenoid.

U mounted the s2k kinda of far back. Can you still put the cap on the back of the housing. Its funny you say that a quad retro may look goofy when everyone seems to want one. Looks good so far. Your right about the s2k bein one of the best. Its what I have up top along with a fx35 down low. Beebo now has Gsedans setup that I did with the s2k up top and tl down low.
