I built my own exhaust last spring. I went 2.5" pipe from the cats to a dual 2.5 in, 3" out magnaflow 'y' muffler. There's one short resonator before the rear subframe, plus the dual 3" blast pipes and that's it. It's all pie cut, so the fit it as good as it can get, but it's certainly not for anyone without saint like patience.

The short of it is I copied a proven setup (pie cuts aside) and it worked out. If you copy the stillens for example to the best of your abilities it should work out fine. And it'll be noisy haha.

This thread lacked knowledge, we provided great arguements which will serve to someones future.

OP, you ask what is a mid-pipe. Take note at his setup. He has a small resonator in the centerof the car before the rear axle muffler.

After much trial and error on my part. I would consider to do so unless you want nasty rasp and drone in the car.

Honestly i'd consider getting a canister 2 in 2 out vs the twin resonators... had that and wasn't pleased. It substantially brought the noise down but was where near the canister. Just finding a straight through twin in/out is hard to find at a reasonable cost.

I don't understand "but was where near the canister."

Magnaflow makes a really nice one;
http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/s...e=main&id=9256

It's got a perforated x pipe inside it. If you search a bit I know there's cutout pictures of them. Having used many magnaflow products over the last few years and never having issue I have to recommend them. If you add one to your system it will considerably lower rasp and will deepen the tone a little.
