Smile My bixenon projector retrofit

I haven't finished aligning the cutoffs yet, but I'm gonna take care of that today. I have newfound respect for the guys that do quad retrofits, as this relatively simple retrofit will have taken me about 20hrs when it's all said and done.

bi-xenon Morimoto Mini D2S projectors
retrofit source 4300k bulbs
Gatling Gun 2.0 shrouds

Bixenon works beautifully and the cutoff line is very clear and colorful (but crooked right now, so no pics for the moment

Substantial amounts of trimming was required on the shroud and bezel. This was the most time consuming part of the job, followed closely by repeatedly installing and removing the lights to get the cutoff right.

These will most likely be for sale come June. I'd like to do another pair.

Still gotta check the cutoff on the driver's side light. I made the mistake of sealing the passenger side light without rechecking the cutoff, and I am NOT looking forward to taking it apart again to fix it

update:
cutoff is close to where i want it to be. I'll tweak it a little next time the bumper's off. I also need to adjust lateral aim a bit, but night visibility is very good.

Very nice work! You are one of the few 05-06s to have done a retrofit (I can actually only think of two, you and myself).

Thanks man. Your car's projectors definitely played a part in my decision to tackle the retrofit.

Looks good. Why do you have the projector mounted so high in the lower location. It could be lowered which would allow less trimming of the shroud

The Morimoto projectors mount through the hole for the fog/high bulb. This gave me a good starting point for aiming/cutoff adjustment, plus I didn't have to fabricate a mounting plate for the projector. The majority of the shroud trimming was to get it to fit the contour of the fog/high reflector bowl and to fit over the projector.

It's all finished so I'll take some pics later when I have access to a better camera than my phone.

The best part is that everything cost just $225, including a roll of butyl sealant that I didn't end up using.

Yea I Know how they mount. They can be used in a h4 hole with the adapter. I actually mounted a set in the upper location in viveks lights. Looks good. props for attempting the job.

Something about the G35's H4 bulb mount resulted in both projectors being tilted to one side, ruining the cutoff. I had to grind a new notch into the projector so I could properly align it and still use the H4 adapter.

Did you use the D2S or H1 Morimoto? The upper location is a really tight fit, dunno if the D2S projector would fit. It must look really good though. The lower location doesn't look as cool I suppose, but it was a bit easier to do and functionality isn't affected.
