Started my headlight retrofit today!!!!!!!!!!!

I finally started my headlight retrofit.

After much deliberation I decided to give it a try myself.I have a set of OEM HID headlights laying around, so not so bad if I go wrong.

Here are a few pics.

I dremeled out the blinker lens. I ordered lenses for the blinker spot. Some FXR lenses. I also ordered some Mini Morimotos for the top and will order the FX-R Stage III from TRS.

But for now here is the beginning.

Enjoy.

Cool, looking forward to see how they turn out. What size clear lens did you get for the turn signal? If its 2.5" its gonna be a very tight fit on 03-04 headlights. 05-06 turn signal openings are slightly larger and we had to dremel mine out a bit to make it big enough to fit a 2.5" clear lens.

I did get the 2.5". I figured I would have to do some sort of mod for that as well. Thanks for the heads up. I will update my progress as I go.

I hope so, but I have an OB sedan as well. These are going on my IP sedan. And the IP sedan right now is stock. I have some lowering springs that need to be installed ( I might be able to install it this weekend, depending on weather). I need to get my windows tinted and get some wheels. So my IP is just started on the mods as well.

Good for you for deciding to take this on yourself.

Marcus is right about the 2.5" lenses. You have to dremel down at least a 1/4" and it will still be a tight fit. I attempted it and gave up after scratching the lenses a few times. I ended up hacking a set of projector fog lights to do the clear lense mod

Good luck with the project

Thanks!

I was actually looking at those fog light projectors. If these dont fit I will buy some of those and make it fit. I hope I can make the lens fit. We will definitely see.

Talking about those for the fogs? Not a bad idea actually. It shows the clear lens on those to be 1.75 inches which might be a bit too small.

Im doing a similar retrofit to a set of oem projectors. Ill be installing FXR projectors up top. Just started on the bracket since they have different holes where they bolt up to. Only thing im worried about is aiming them

Sub'd for progress Good luck and keep us updated!

PS: I have a set of MH1, FXR, and TSX projectors if you need any sort of measurement or anything.

These are the ones I was talking about. But seems as though they would be the same size as the ones you posted. I will see how the 2.5" do and if they work at all.

EBAY Fog Lights

Thanks. I will let you know if I need any measurements. The aiming part is what worries me as well.

Its that tight. I measured them and the inside of the housing is 2.5". Are the lenses 2.5" at the base of the lens? Without adding in the flange? Is that what you were trimming?

I was thinking of painting the housing Ivory Pearl to match the car and painting the projector shrouds satin or matte black. Has anyone done this????????? If so can you post pics.... Thanks.

How do you think this would look????
