2003 Interior Refresh. A Winter Project. Pic Heavy.

But It came around in the end.
Reason 2: Because I hate A-Pillar pods, I think they look ricey, and are way to visible from outside the car and to Police, etc.
Reason 3: I wanted it low key, and original. I've also found A-Pillar gauges aren't something you really watch due to their location (after you get used to them being there, you kind of just ignore them). At least here, they are part of a regular speedo check.
Perfect!!! I couldn't believe how well it worked actually, and it just wiped right off like nothing after it cured!

Since you are putting it through a 2d plane, I wonder how it would work on a more complex 3d design, ex. something like your gauge cluster.
Maybe you dip it 2-3 x?

After a lot of time spent on painting and messing around, I've pretty much decided to go with my old plan.
Brushed Titanium.
I tried a cheaper version before and it was almost impossible to work with so I abandoned the idea. Well I decided to pony up the ridiculous amount of money this stuff costs and try it out.
I might still paint the console pieces black to see, but more likely they'll end up wrapped in this stuff, supposing it all goes well.

While waiting for the above to arrive, I needed to get back at my Colourchanging interior project.
And, Well, the Audio/HVAC unit has me regretting the job, this thing sucks. Running wiring to every single LED is a logistical nightmare
A little crude right now for test purposes, will be cleaned up, of course:
2 done, about 33 to go

When I put a screen in this car it will not be a simple double din, it will be custom. Three will be no buttons. I don't have the money for that yet, stock is fine, I have larger priorities for the car funds still.

Jan 22/13 Update - Vinyl
Sooooo, even with the good stuff this is H.A.R.D!!!
Feel free to take that as incorrectly as you please.
But seriously, anyone that has worked with vinyl or whatever, please hook me up with some tips if you feel so obliged! I guess I tried a hard piece to get the ball rolling. It did turn out alright overall, but there are definitely some crappy spots, mainly the sides. I might re-do it, we shall see.
On to some pics!
Once I got here, I figured there was simply NO WAY that the vinyl would make the turn, period. SO I cut it, and put a piece in to take it up. this was a mistake, but hey, it's my first time
Wrap finished, it's easy to see why the cut and patch method was a terrible idea, this looks BRUTAL:
And then I did this side 'proper', I think. I just heated it and stretched the ever living crap out of it to make the turn. It was very hard, but worked. I DID run just a bit shy on material, which is crazy, must have been the way I was pulling, because I had TONS of material. Because of this I didn't watch it, and ended up with just a little bit missing
You can see the patch at the side.
Overall, aside from the screw ups on my part wrapping it, this stuff really looks wicked!
HOWEVER, I did end my night off on a bit of a downer. I installed the shift boot and CF trim I made previously..... ...... Ugh.
Wanna know how to very quickly ruin a nice classy looking piece of brushed titanium?
Add Carbon fiber.
I think it's obvious, and should go without saying, that this simply will not do.
The 'ring' around the shifter will return to stock. I'll try junkyard first, otherwise I'll put it in the classifieds as a straight-up trade for the stock one, and we will try this again.
That also makes me think the A-Pillars might not survive this change either, but I'll leave that buried in the back of my head for the time being.
I'll PROBABLY end up re-wrapping this whole piece again now that I know a little more about how to do it better, because it kind of looks crappy as-is if you actually LOOK at it.
Thoughts?
