Im a newbie here.

Hello G35 owners alike in the Midwest....I would like to introduce myself....My name is Alexander, most people call me Xander. I live in the the suburbs of Chicago and I am 22 years old. I don't own a g35 just yet...but in the process of owning one hopefully by July, if my financial stuff goes well in the next six months. Right now I am an owner of the G35 distant cousin, the Maxima, basically the same car as the I30. It is a 97 Maxima with 77k miles on the ticker, with about $4k+ in aftermarket mods. In hopes of getting one between now and July. I hope to gain factual knowledge from you guys so I could purchase my G with a lot of knowledge and what to expect and I hope to purchase my G35 sesan 6spd MT at Motor Works in South Barrington. Please let me know what kind of problems when purchasing or what are the common problems with the G35 so I know what to look out for. As a member of dozons of car forums...i know to use the search function as an effort to keep the bandwith down, when searching for an answer. I think thats about it as of now, maybe sometime I will get to meet some of you guys soon.

Xander

Re: Im a newbie here.

Xmax,

Welcome to the forum and to the Midwest section! It's a fun place here at G35Driver.com and I've been here for just over a year now! Got my G at Motorwerks and I thought their sales experience is great. They're nice people to deal with and when you get closer to purchasing, look me up. If you want, I'll help you out as I know the Infiniti Sales manager, the Service manager, aftermarket guys, and some of the floor sales people! Which G are you looking at? The Sedan just came out in Diamond Graphite. I bought the brilliant silver because DG was only available on the coupe which came out a month after I bought in November 2002. It's awesome looking and I would not have passed that color by for the sedan if it had been available when I bought! I'm in the NW suburbs too and I live about 20 minutes from Motorweks.

Welcome to the Forum and keep us posted to your progress! Also, check out our next event, the Chicago Auto Show on February 7th!

Re: Im a newbie here.

Welcome,
As a former maxima owner, perhaps I can shed a little light. As far as the 6 speed on this car, you're gonnna' love it. I had a 6 speed 2k2 max, and loved it, but his tranny is MUCH better- shorter throw, better gearing, and it feels great being connected to the rear wheels. RWD, something else you will love.
What you wont love: Maxima.org was a great forum, you'll miss it. Not to say this isn't a good forum, but he G is a new car, and people are still figuring it out, it'll be a lomg time before G35 and 350Z forums stockpile that much info on this car. Also, the computer on this car has a tendancy to detun itself to negate the effects of your mods. A technosquare ECU upgrade is supposed to negate this, but data is inconclusive. I havn't seen a whole lot of dyno numbers... we'll have to wait and see for sure. Then again, you're strting off w/ a lot more power... that's all for now, I may think of sum'in' else later...
-Brandon

Re: Im a newbie here.

Thanks for the welcome, yes i will look you up when i get closer to purchasing the G. As far as what G35 im looking for is the 6spd MT, and the only two other options im for sure getting are is the sunroof and the full spare with the trunk mat...but im debating on if i should get the splash guards or not. I like the DG color but im more interested in the dark color scheme, like the Black Obsidian or the Twilight Blue. Even tho they are hard to keep clean but when they are clean they look absolutly gorgeous.....Man i so want to join you guys to your Chicago Auto Show meet..but I will be in the Philippines for a family reunion.
As of now....less than month before I graduate from college (Illinois Institute of Art Schumburg, majoring in computer animation) I will be looking for a job when that time occurs i might try to do the Infiniti Signature Graduate program which might help me a bit when purchasing my G.

Oh yeah just to let you guys know I am part of a Nissan/Infiniti car club in Chicago called the driven...checkout our website at www.thedriven.org. We have large outtings in the Schuamburg area during the warmer months...the last meet we had in October, about 70+ Nissan's showed up thru out the day. Hopefully the Infiniti and Nissan guys can join together and make one big Nissan/Infiniti/Datsun bash next year. When we usually meet up we have a large BBQ with lots of food and sometimes giveaways and raffles.

Re: Im a newbie here.

Just curious how much did you people pay for your G35's for those that got the sedan? And how much did you get it from MSRP? over or under? Cuz i wanna know if i could get the dealer to price the car under msrp. Thanks again.

Re: Im a newbie here.

You can probably get the sedan under msrp, the coupe may still be a little difficult. Rene Wolk at Motorwerks comes highly recommended by me. Good luck.

Re: Im a newbie here.

Jason Delecruz at Motorwerks I would recommend. If your ordering a stick coupe...no discounts. They are coming down on the sedan sticker though.

Re: Im a newbie here.

Aftrbnr, Jason is the sales guy that I was talking to when i made my first visit there.....and I am going for the 6spd MT sedan...so hopefully i can talk to him and bring down the price from 31,455 MSRP to something more reasonable, like 30k or even 29k. My plans are to put down at least 5k plus my dad's grand prix as a trade in (worth about 1k) and im keeping my Maxima and giving it to him.
