Minnesota Owners

How are you guys dealing with this snow? Even with snow tires on, I've had trouble getting up even the easiest inclines.

Sedan or Coupe? I have a Sedan without snow tires and I'm getting around ok, survived Tuesday just fine.

Re: Minnesota Owners

You may want to shop for some snow tires or a wheel and snow tire package. There are people in NY & NJ that are getting around ok with a good set of snow tires so you should be fine with that setup.

Are you in the twin cities area?

Re: Minnesota Owners

I'm in Western WI with a sedan on all season tires. It was a little rough, but after putting some sand bags in the trunk it's all good. Of course I work from home and live in Eau Claire so it's not like traveling 494 during rush hour in a snow storm.

Still very surprised by your comment. Throw some weight in the trunk, it might help. Or let of the gas a bit, gotta take it easy with all that power in the snow.

Re: Minnesota Owners

Hey Nate, how are those sand bags effecting your handling? I thought about putting some in the back but I didn't want to throw off the balance too much. As it is I'm getting around pretty good so I may not really need them.

Re: Minnesota Owners

I have not had a chance to really check 'handling', but it's shouldn't be any worse than having backseat passengers with a trunk full of stuff. I did detect a difference on snow though and the rear doesn't slide out as easy anymore. I may end up just putting them in when the roads may be bad. Worth a try though, certainly is a cheap enough option.

If you want scary though, try turning off VDC and drive around! It really does a good job.

Re: Minnesota Owners

VDC saved my butt on Wednesday when I hit a sheet of ice at 50mph, put the car back in line without ever leaving me the feeling I was out of control....It does a good job indeed.

Re: Minnesota Owners

i do live in the twin cities area. i put some weight in the back of the car so next time it snows i'll have better traction. i couldn't get up the incline when there was like 3-4 inches of snow so i'll wait until they plow the hill first before i drive.

Smartass!

With at least 10 G owners from the area on this forum, we should be able to make something happen this spring. I know there's more, too bad we can't spread the word better. I'm jealous of the Chicago crew.

Re: Minnesota Owners

with snow like we've had the last few days, you'd think the number of coupes in this forum would be significantly diminished, hehe. i just put bags in the trunk tonight, and i'm hoping for a miracle. even with winter wheels and tires, my rear is breaking out more than a high school football player on roids. though it has been much snowier than usual. can't get much worse, right?

once spring hits, just try and stop me! i'm up for a little get together . . .

Re: Minnesota Owners

I'm glad it finally stopped snowing, yesterday was the first time this winter I really had any issues getting around. Of course that was due to the 4-5 inches of loose snow/slush on all the side roads I drive on.
