Next meet brainstorm
Re: Next meet brainstorm
Check Orbitz.com
I stayed at the Stratosphere for $60. NYNY for $125. Rio for $125. MGM for $150. Luxor for $125. NYNY was the best. Rarely needed to leave the hotel, except for the "strip" (clubs).
But now I stay for free. My father in law moved out there last year.

Re: Next meet brainstorm
Best deal for the strip is the Monte Carlo, IMO. It's comfortable, very central, and pretty cheap (~150/night, and cheaper with packages). I would recommend San Remo if you want to go ultra-cheap and don't care where you stay, but strip-central is pretty important to me, so... Monte Carlo. If you guys give me times and dates, I can look around for locals specials and see if I can get a discounted booking. Sound good?

Sounds good to me. Check around and see what you can find. I'm too picky as long as the place is clean.

Re: Next meet brainstorm
I've stayed at the San Remo before (it was the only thing we could get for New Year's Eve) and I'd prefer we try somewhere else. (LMaz has pretty high standards and I don't think it would live up to them!!) The Stardust is pretty central and its $85. Geo, let us know if you hear of any good specials for May 20-23rd!

...ahhh to be single!
I stayed at the Stardust many a time when my Father in law was still alive. It's nice, located nicely on the strip (albeit northside) but it's inexpensive to stay there. The back rooms usually get the lowest rate over the tower but the tower is nice and still not very much more. Most posted prices for these hotels are bunk. You can call the hotel and give them some dates and ask them for their lowest rate. The hotels there are all in competition for business and you can barter their rates just like when you buy a car so use this to your advantage. I haven't been to Vegas in 5 years but you're right, you won't like to San Remo! It's a better location but very run down for what Vegas has to offer. Stardust is older but well kept up, at least the last time I was there. I once stayed in the round tower hotel, i forget the name, but the demolished it to make another hotel. That was the nicest hotel in Vegas I ever had.
I wish I could go but unless I bring the family, It wouldn't be right. My Mother in law is coming in from Vegas in a week so... but now is not the right time for us to go. Maybe I'll catch the next one. Have fun!

"Not too far from" means "too far from" Get a strip-central place, and you'll be very happy. Granted it may only be another 200 yards to walk at the end of the night, but that adds up FAST when you walk a lot.

Re: Next meet brainstorm
Yeah it's pretty far, especially when you have to stop at every hotel to keep from dying of heat exhaustion
I stayed at the Excalibur last year and it was still a pretty decent walk up to Treasure Island to see the pirate show! Just go for the gusto and stay at Ceasars!!!

Re: Next meet brainstorm
We should be able to find a nice place. Planning early we can get a good deal. I will workon it on Monday. We won't spend much time at the hotel but it needs to be close.
