IL law for tints !

All you people .. I have heard that getting tints for front windows is not lawful in IL. Is this true? Does this mean no tint whatsoever for coupes?

I have tints on mine. You can get as dark as you want on the rear windows only (rear window, rear side windows). Although you can get away with 50% tint on your driver/passenger side windows. My recommendation is to go with 30% tint on your rear windows and 50% on the driver/passenger side. Thats what I have and they look great, plus I drive through some areas (like Rosemost for instance) where the cops are a-holes when it comes to tint and they have not pulled me over.

yea I wouldnt go darker than 35% on the side windows or your just asking to get pulled over.

35% or 50% is good for the sides. and as dark as you want for the back

Love the job they did and hopefully i won't see any of my friendly neighborhood police officers in my rearview any time soon... I'll be driving around in my civic till the G is out of its 3 day NO OPENING WINDOW rule... lol

I have gotten 5 tickets on no front plate and none on my tinted windows. I live downtown and have never been hassled about them. If you get them tinted go the same % all the way around it doesn't look as nice with 2 different shades.

Yeah, for some weird reason, CPD is big on giving out tickets for no front plates... go fig...

Anyway, CPD is realitively leinent when it comes to tints. Some suburbs (like Cicero and Rosemont) not so nice...

what if you do get a ticket?

Hey I'm in IL, is there any talk about raising the tint level, since most states at least allow 35%? How about getting out of it other than taking off the tint?

Good place?

Any good place for getting the Tint job done and how much.
Someone had mentioned in a different post a place in Cicero, but it is too far for me. I live in west suburbs in Bartlett. Anything close by?

how are the suburb cops with no front plate?

Why dont u use the excuse, that you have a special front plate on back order because it doesnt drill holes into the front bumper and you will put it on soon as its in. That would probably get the officer off your back.
