I basically told the infiniti dealer that i would not pay the full price , $34,300, for an 07 G35 Sport with premium, because the new 08's will be out soon.
He basically said, ok, wait then, and the 08's will cost even more. I (excuse my language) FU@%ing hate these dumb A$$ dealers who cant comprehend ****. Sell me an 07 at a good deal or go pound sand mang.....
sorry for the rant guys, but its just ridiculous how the dealers try to act like fools and wont give a good number on a basically 1 year old 07 sedan.
your input is appreciated guys.....

ur trying to buy a sedan?
hmm, that'd be a tough one. the reason for that is 08's arent expected there any time soon. if you want to make this argument it will have much more value in october thru december.
id say you definitely should check other dealers. try to play the 'end of month' scenario. might return more value (i.e. go to dealer towards the end of the month to do the deal)

Doesn't matter what car, we do not pay full price anymore.
I bought my 07 sedan in 2006 and I got $1,500 off the MSRP. I don't consider that a good deal though since many here do it better than me.
When dealing with dealers, be calm and stubborn as they are. Have the guts to leave and they will call you back. They are not your friend.

I'm picking up a loaded G35S tomorrow for less than $500 over invoice (about $3,100 off MSRP). I simply sent a request through Edmunds, the sales guy called me this morning, told me "how much", I told him "Give it to me for $37,300 and I'll be at the dealership this afternoon", and four hours later I was at the dealership finalizing it.
My experience is that if you start the communication over the internet, they deal better from the start, because they know you are a "smart shopper". All salesmen will try to tell you "this is a hot car, we don't do discounts", because some people will believe them, and then pay MSRP or close to it (and think they got a deal because the dealer threw in the $600 "appearence package" for free).
The caveat: You are going to get better dealers in large markets (LA, Miami, northern Jersey, etc.), where there are dealers competing. Finding excellent deals in one-dealer towns is going to be more difficult.

I'll echo the above statement. I found that using the internet was much easier (no pushy salesmen to deal with, the internet fleet managers are much nicer).
I bought mine far below MSRP with little hassle.
..granted there are a bunch of infiniti dealers within driving distance...

I am getting a G35s, 500 over invoice - internet sales team is the way to go.
Email about 20 of them EXACTLY what you want, tell this best bid wins. If that round doesnt work offer them invoice, then invoice +500.
Try it about a week before the end of a calendar month. Ignore MSRP its useless.
I havent spoken with a salestard yet, paperwork is sitting there ready for me.

I'm probably going in this weekend for my second look at the G35. I already told my salesman I'm working with that more than likely if we opt to buy the G35 that we would wait for the 08 as they don't have the color combo I want in stock and a special order will come around the same time the 08s are in anyway. That said, I always have more than one car in mind when looking at a new car. Right now that would be the G35S, BMW 335i, potentially an Acura TL, and even a Toyota Tacoma Double Cab. My sales guy knows this and if they can't give me the car for a price I'm happy and willing to pay I'll just walk out and deal for one of my other cars on my list. Whether it is because you have other cars lined up, other dealers to you can go to, or are simply just willing to wait a little longer, you have to be willing to walk out if the deal is not going your way. Dealers love the customer that has to have it now and has to have that particular car. You have no leverage in that case since if you want it, you have to buy it.
Here in Hawaii we have it a little harder when buying the luxury cars. We only have one Lexus, Acura, BMW, Mercedes, Audi, and pretty much all of the higher end manufacurers. We have no choice because if you want that brand you can't go anywhere else unless you buy it from 3000+ miles away and pay the extra $1500 to ship it back. Pretty much wipes out any savings you might have gotten. Often the only way to get better deals is to play each manufacturer against each other. You have to be willing to buy one of the other manufacturers cars though.

Check online and see what the best price is, then walk into a dealer and see if he will meet or beat the internet deal. Worth a try, but the last 2 days of the moth is the best for dealing. If you can not wait, look at getting other "add ons" (extended warranty, etc.) for free based on paying full price, you could save up to $2-3K.

When I went into dealership thats in my area I got treated like I was buying it with my daddy's money. They said 500 off the MSRP at most.
So I just left and then using cars.com build it to how I want it and sent an email to all dealerships in 300 mile radius. Two days later I found what I was looking for for 500 above invoice. Bad thing is I had to drive out of state 250 miles to get it.

i can never understand this attitude of hatred and venom directed towards dealers in general, and during the negotiations process.
they are a *business* and the capitalistic model requires that they try to make the most money, while you try to use the least. that's just the way it is, and the way most of the first world runs. why is that a bad thing in this industry, but ok everywhere else?
also, i think it's funny when people confuse "salesperson" with "dealer"
A salesperson telling you what the price is, is actually the sales manager telling him/her what the price is. you think it's unreasonable, ask to talk to the manager and be nice to the poor SOB (or DOB) that's trying to make a buck doing a rather unwelcome job. it ain't easy.
edit: another thing that people just don't seem to get, or care about: dropping $1000 off the price of a $35k car is a 3% reduction in price for the buyer, but for the average spread of 10% in the auto industry, is a 30% reduction in profit for the dealer.
So the next time you think you're being gouged by a dealer that doesn't want to drop $500, try looking at it from the dealer's perspective. chances are, they're being gouged more.
