New G35xS - Great car, great value

Coming out of a 2002 BMW M3....I know sounds like a downgrade, not so. The G35 is more refined, better electronics and actually drivable in the winter. Will miss the cache and good looks of the M3, but this car is an incredible value and has improved to a competitive position over the last several years. Looking forward to figuring out everything - gonna take a few days to take advantage of all the options. The dealers are dealing - only good part of a shaky economy.

Pictures soon.

before i purchased my g35S i was really considering a 2003/2004 e46 m3 for the longest time...are you really happier with the g35? if so, that definitely puts me at ease, cause i see a lot of m3's in the city and it always makes me wonder what it would've been like to own one. anyhow, congratulations on the purchase too.

G35 v. M3

The two cars are both very different and yet have some of the same attributes that make them special.

The M3 is one of the best driving cars out there hands down. Once snug in the excellent seats, it is connected to the driver like few other cars, at any price range. It is also however a sports car and as a daily driver can become less than optimal. The suspension is unforgiving over bad roads, the interior is classic German-spartan, it is a sled in bad weather, was in the stone age electronics wise and once out of warranty can get expensive. I also have found Infiniti service better than BMW, with my '04 G35 coupe. Infiniti service has risen as BMW service has declined over the years.

The G35 has the best blend of sport and features/comfort and does not give away one more for the other. Few cars do that today and also include a functional back seat. It feels much bigger and is no way as tossable as the M3. The M3 is meant to be driven EVERY time the engine is started. The G seems happy when driven normally and when asked, can create similar acceleration (as my M3 convertible), but admittedly with a little less excitement.

So far, I still miss the M3, but not because the G35 is lacking. It would be missed no matter what replaced it (well, maybe not the new E92 M3). More as I put some miles in it...it is less than a week old.

Just got mine on Friday 3/21

I just got my 2008 G35xS on Friday after waiting 3.5 months for it to be built and delivered, and damn was it well worth the wait!! It's such a great mix of luxury, pure power, and technology. The BMW M3 may be a better car in some very small ways, but only if you're willing to spend 20K or more for the small benefits.

If only there was some way to make the same performance with a hybrid or electric system at the same price.
