Got my G today!!
Hello everyone, Just became a g35 owner today!!!!!!!!! I've Been reading the forums last few days and I've learned a great deal about my car, but had a few questions.
I got a 23k miles, 2006 Grey/Silver automatic coupe with black interior, premium package, and no rattles or creaks for 22500 from a Bently dealership. The rotors are bad in the back but other then that, the car is great as far as I can tell. Was this a good deal?
Do the rotors normally go bad that quickly or did the previous driver really punish the brakes? I've read there have been issues with 03 04 brakes going quickly but not to much about the newer models.
How can I tell what color it is? WTF is with the color descriptions? Diamond Graphite Metallic, Lakeshore Slate Metallic, and Liquid Platinum Metallic. Sound like they could all be the same color. I guess its silver/grey I'll try to get pictures tomorrow.
Is the bluetooth useless? Feels like I can barely be heard with the car off.
What kind basic invesments should I make. I've heard about ipod integration and that ClearBra stuff from reading the forums. Any other suggestions?
Thanks Everyone

First off, Congrats on the buy I too am a recent owner of a G35 Coupe.
According to my research and findings on this website, the brakes/rotors on the G typically go out around the 25,000 mile mark. So it looks like you're due. For the money, I'd go with some slotted/cross drilled rotors and upgraded brake pads; same size on both of course to avoid any compatibility issues. On this same note, how are your tires? Definately look into getting off the Bridgestones!
Yes, the naming conventions are different throughout the years. For your particular year/description, I would say yours is Diamond Graphite. Liquid Platium is a very BRIGHT silver color and Lakeshore is a BMW Light Blue color.
The bluetooth gets mixed reviews. I use it quite often. From my experience, clarify is perfect, volume however is a tad too soft from the other end.
Remember that the microphone unit is on the passenger side near the mirror so try aiming your voice in that direction, rather than at the steering wheel like in the Lexus cars.
As far as basic investments go, definately pick up some mud guards and spoiler if not already equipped. Some nice tint will help with the leather in thsi hot weather. Appropriate tires for your area/zone would be on this list as well.
I an a fan of the clearbra but not with that many miles. I'd say the damage from rock chips, road debris, bugs, etc. is already done. The money spent to clean it up, repaint it, purchase the clearbra, apply it and any other associated costs just wouldn't be justified on an old bumper.
If you're really wanting to do it, I'd buy a new front bumper, let it be stock or aftermarket and THEN get it done.
I think I covered all your questions. Don't forget to check out the TSB area and see if any of those apply to your car.

congrats on the new car, now let's see some pics.
I have to agree with Tran03 about the clear bra. My BMW's front bumper looked sandblasted when I traded it. The first thing I did is order the clear bra for the front of the G. There were no chips when I made the appointment, on the way home however, a dump truck cut me off, dumping crap all over the road. Didn't notice anything with the paint til after the clear bra was installed. It magnified the two new chips from the dump truck. If the paint isn't 100%, I wouldn't bother.
